Plated Yamaha YZ450

I see these ads on CR not infrequently...my question is how legit is this, since the DMV came down hard on plating dirt bikes in the early 2000s. I wonder if DMV would also balk at a title transfer for street legal?

I hear they don't make good dual sport bikes...especially compared to the pumpkins. I have an 07 I'm about to list.

I'd always fear the DMV...but if you went to AAA with a CA title, I don't see why they couldn't transfer it.

Interesting,,,,so they never sent you a letter trying to take the plate back?...I heard they had done that.

I have a plated 03 WR450 that I bought in early 2015. Haven't had any paperwork problems, even though it'd be a red sticker bike.

Mine was supposedly brought in from TX with a plate and "7600" miles (or at least that's what the PO told me)
