Awesome pics, amazing bike. Thanks for sharing.

I Really need to get up to Leggett and 36.

What luggage did you use, backpack?

I bought the Wunderlich tank bag that fits the R and RR, it worked out really well and held a lot of the little crap that I needed easy access to. (DSLR, phone, wallet, gopro batteries and charger, USB cords, tire gauge, spare change, etc). I also wear a Kriega R30 pack daily, so I'm really used to wearing it, but all I really had in it was water in the hydrapak, a couple of changes of socks, t-shirts, boxers and my windstopper fleece when I wasn't wearing it.

This bike doesn't have a lot of room for luggage but there are lots of ways to be creative with soft luggage these days, and I was staying in hotels so the luggage wasn't a worry.

Hwy 1 between the coast and Leggett is insane fun but not much for scenery (though the forest is neat). Overall my favorite road was the 89/108 coming back from Tahoe. 89 has some fun bits and mellow bits, but then you get on 108 and it's sensory overload, so many amazing things to look at, yet the road is so awesome you can't divide your attention between them!

How was traffic for you on 108?

I started too late form home and by the time I got past strawberry ( headed east) there was lot more traffic than normal for 108(even on a weekend). Same thing on the way back. Must have been due to the fire in yosemite. All the tourist/campers that would otherwise go to the yosemite area must have headed to areas off 108 :)

I didn't know anything about a fire. Traffic was fine. I knew it was a weekend so maybe expected worse. I followed about 10 Mini enthusiasts from Tahoe along the 89 (I accidentally missed the turn for the 89/4 and ended up in Nevada, had to backtrack). When the scenery is good I am happy to chill. Once I got on the 108 for the first twisty bits past the Marine station I was pretty lucky, just a couple of cars that I quickly dispatched with a blip of the right wrist. Down lower I had a lot of fun in the fast sweepers and the cars I came up on were pretty good about moving over in turnouts.

That top bit up there in the higher elevations, pure joy :)

Nice trip I almost did the same trip except mine had a deture due to the fires at the beginning of last month in the north eastern part of the state. Hwy 89 was closed for me
