My wife has been working in a cheese shop and almost daily she gets someone asking for "the gluten free cheese."
Folk love to jump on the train without knowing the purpose or destination.

All cheeses are gluten free. (OK, there are some exceptions, rare, but there are some. Cheese food products or processed cheese can have gluten but it ain't cheese.)

Now for the "fat free" table sugar, honey, molasses.

Don't forget the "zero carb" oils.

It really only takes a minute on the 'net to learn a few things about the foods you intend to eat.

When I order food at restaurants I often ask for a side of gluten.

It doesn't help that food labeling is retarded. Go through the grocery store and see how many profucts say gluten free now.

Yeah, this is funny. I have a few friends who own bakeries/cafes, and they get all sorts of dumb requests. People who say they are 100% vegan and then order cheese, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I used to run the summertime gift shop at the bottom of a tram at a ski area. Tourists rode it for the view at the top of the mountain. When it stopped at the bottom, I would stand outside the door and wait for the line of people exiting the tram car. Then I would walk into my shop. Pretty much across the board they would follow me in. If I missed one and didn't lead them in, they would all walk by and never enter. People follow. It's easier than thinking.

I'm mildly Celiac and I still eat gluten against my doctor's orders...and I'm fine. The sheeple need to STFU.

One of the most insufferable characteristics of my Baby Boomer generation is the obsession on talking about food, consumption, sustainable, gluten-free bla-bla. I will to a point, but c'moooooooooooooooooooon. It's always that "I discovered it and it's GREAT so now I HAVE to tell you all about," ad nauseum.

I like talkin about smokin' meat and beer and stuff, but that's about it. I guess we can blame Alice Waters or Jeremiah Tower or somebody....but remember, they pioneered the long-form menu descriptions....it seemed to evolve outwards, off the menu and into people's lexicon.
