PC based video editing software. Which one?

The first one I used was Pinnacle. They didn't support Windows 7 when I upgraded and wanted me to buy a full version with no consideration for my prior purchase.
So I went with Cyberlink Power Director which took me a while to learn and seems to be OK.
It is time I bought a new program and wonder what you all (sorry, y'all. I am in TX now) think?
I see Sony Vegas is pretty popular.
If I don't use the program for a year, I forget the bulk of how to use it so factor that in to the equation.

Sign up for Adobe Creative Cloud, costs 20 bucks for one application or 50 for all of them. Disable it when you don't need it and I think it is free for the first month.
