On-track punch up during Costa Rica championship race

This was from last March, so probably a repost - did a quick search and didn't find anything. So if it is, watch it again - it's funny. :teeth

If this really was an organized race, where the hell is the flagman and the caution flag??? Crazy.

You just need to copy/paste the end of the YouTube URL, starting after the equal sign (=) and ending before the ampersand (&)

here's the full URL with highlighted parts you need to copy/paste: youtube.com/watch?v=t3HQeLO9xTI&feature=youtu.be

Done correctly it will look like this:

{YOUTUBE}t3HQeLO9xTI{/YOUTUBE}

But with normal brackets ( [ and ] ) rather than the squigly ones.

It showed somewhere here, but worth watching again.

So many things could have made that much worse than a good right hook.

Thanks for the posting tip on youtubes [MODs: might be worth adding a reference to that in the Posting FAQ on posting images].

Yes - watching that bike veer off across a hot track was pretty scary.

I mean - what kind of crazy do you have to be to even consider doing what that guy did? I've been plenty pissed off at on-track BS, but it never would have occurred to me go all Forrest Gump and leap off my bike while I try to wrestle climb my way aboard someone else's in the middle of a race. :wow

In my eyes (not necessarily correct), I saw them make contact (side) which caused the outside bike to lean in more. Then the rider realized that he could not turn away and they were "locked" together. So, the guy bailed by grabbing on to the rear of the other bike and let his go. I do not think the guy on the outside purposely jumped off his bike (except to save his butt).

Huh. Yes, I think you may be right. OK, so no Forrest Gump bail out.

So the guy on the right gets a bit ahead and starts moving left to set up for the upcoming turn, but he does so too early, gets tangled up with the bike on the left. Rider on the left realizes he's f***ed if he stays on his bike, so decides to bail out onto the other guys bike to save himself. (I don't think I would've thought to even do that).

So then, he successfully - miraculously - pulls that off, and the right hand rider keeps it upright and on the track as he brakes pretty hard and moves to far right to stay out of the way and stop without dumping. And he does it!

Now. What would your reaction be if you were the rider that had to bail out?
a) grateful to be alive
b) mad at the other guy for cutting me off, but grateful to be alive
c) mad at the other guy and ready to belt him one right now.
hmmm....let me think about that....:confused
(I'm guessing this was not random and hairball moves were traded previously between these two). Still crazy to watch.

The rider on 86 (the one that stays upright) only mistake was not immediately gassing it once the idiot fell off his bike. Sticking around to have a conversation on a live track makes no sense. Just go! Leave the moron to swing at air and walk into traffic as he did.

The guy came up swinging. #86 didn't even have time to put his hand back on the throttle, let alone ride away. The dude un-wedges himself from the rear wheel at :14 and has already thrown a punch by :15.

I couldn't see anything wrong that the rider on our Right did, it was all the rider on our Left. One of those 'special' people that you never want to cross paths with on the track. He didn't seem to give a fuck that his bike might take somebody else out when he bailed off of it.

Not as fast as I look.
At least we know helmets work against punches, pretty well. We have had this discussion, previously: Grab the helmet, don't punch it. This works in South America, too.

Nonsense. Watch the video again. The rider if he had not take his hand off the bars and just gassed as soon as the passenger rolled off, had time to leave Mr. Fight Club in the dust. He was off the bike and on his own two feet when he swung.
