Old Man Woody Looking For a New Toy Story

Look at this old bugger. 15 years old and abandoned at the shelter. A gentle soul looking for a new retirement home.

Loves to sleep on my lap. He's quiet. Doesn't need much, just a warm place to spend his final years.

He's got a couple of things that come with old age: a heart murmur, and dirty teeth (and the heart murmur will probably exclude him as a candidate for a teef cleaning)

He is fixed, chipped and up to date on shots. We are fostering him on behalf of Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) because a 15 year old cat doesn't stand much of a chance in an overcrowded shelter, especially with all the kittens available.

Do you know anyone who wants a cat but doesn't want a very long term commitment? Wants a low maintenance cat for company on these dark evenings? Please spread the word :)

He will come with a care package of litter box, litter, scoop, bed, carrier and blanket. We'll also send him home with enough food to last six months. And, his adoption fee is waived. That's right. CCAS are waiving his adoption fees cos he is an old bugger

Located in Concord. You can come visit with him to see if he would make a good addition to your household and adopt him from here (I have permission from the shelter to adopt out)

Don't worry, he is not in kitty jail (photos) We have to assess behaviors when we get a new cat, so he is allowed to free roam when we are here, but when we are not here he is in his safe space

Ask me about my B-1-D
Wendy, I am so glad you are posting your adoption candidates again, although it breaks my heart to see these gentle souls and their hard luck stories.

Free bump as I cant provide a home (allergic to kitty's) but I will give my rescue pup a hug

Thanks Simon :)

Don't worry about them, when they are with me they are safe. I worry about the ones in the shelter so the sooner I can find new homes for my fosters, the sooner I can get more out to safety.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, if you could spread the word that would be great. I think he would make a great companion for a retired person or couple who would love the company of a cat, without worrying that the cat would end up outliving them and end up back in a shelter.

You are an amazing person Wendy.

I have a 10 y/o male that thinks that he is a Pit Bull and he does not like other cats.

exploring!
:cry

WHY CAN'T I HAVE A KITTY??? I could commit to a senior kitty and give them some love for their final years. My house is ideal - it's just me and there's lots of sunny windows. :cry :cry

Hi Wendy!

Keep up the love. We have the two inside Kittys (Lyra pic) and three outside strays we are caring (fixed, shots, the shit) for, so we are at capacity.:)

How would he do in a 2400 square foot shop? It is not heated but it is insulated and fully finished and has a love seat and a couple of other cats.

I am out there a lot and he will get attention, food, clean litter and medical care.

Thanks everyone for the kind words :)

motomania, your offer is something to consider, and I certainly will if I am not able to find him a new home within a reasonable time frame. However (and I don't want to jinx both of us here) he does have someone coming to visit him today, so fingers crossed she decides to adopt him!!!

Well, the lady who visited with him last night wasn't a good fit, she lives with her elderly mom and was planning on sneaking him in to the house to live in her room :( UM, no. HUGE potential for him to have ended up back at the shelter :(

BUT, another lady visited with him today and HURRAH he was adopted!!!! He is going to be her 94 year old mom's new best friend!!!! Mom is thrilled. Woody went over and sat with her on the sofa when she visited. Mom loves him already

Fingers crossed he calms down. We just had to take him to the vet as he has infected gums, and he needs meds (which he has now). And a teeth cleaning with extractions (to be scheduled)

So he is a bit pissed off at going back in the carrier lol

Wow, He was only here for a week!!!!!!!!

:)

Somebody needs to take him in!

Wendy, I used to foster dogs until they found a permanent home. I know how taxing, but rewarding, it can be!

Nice work! You're kinda like a superhero! :)
