made a couple comments. posted in case anyone wants to piggy-back off my writing. oy, there's so many!! i tried to re-use as many comments as i could, basically anybody asking for money to clean and maintain trails/parks got a big :thumbup same for any emergency responders :thumbup
i don't have the patience to conduct due diligence on all the organizations asking for money but i did read through most of the important bits of their grant applications (purpose/scope and expense analysis).
Center for Sierra Nevada Conservation
68-108508
I strongly oppose this grant application because there is no provision made for sections E. List of Reports and F. Goals, Objectives and Methodology/Peer Reviews.
While it seems the CSNC has taken great care in detailing their "proposed restoration," this proposal lacks transparency because they will not publish any reports and do not have clearly stated objectives. In other words, it would be difficult to monitor the work being done and verify it accomplishes anything worthwhile.
These grants should not be free money.
Clovis Independent 4 Wheelers
27-5454486
I strongly support this grant application because CI4W's proposal is for direct maintenance of OHV road and trail maintenance.
Adventure Trail System of the Eastern Sierra Inc.
45-3959969
I strongly support this grant application because it directly funds the maintenance and improvement of OHV trails.
County of Del Norte, Community Development Department
94-2254126
I strongly support this grant application because the funding will go directly to improving, restoring, and maintaining OHV trails.
California Trail Users Coalition (CTUC)
95-4690961 4 total applications (wrote same for each one)
I strongly support this grant application because the funding will go directly to improving, restoring, and maintaining OHV trails.
Desert Group Search and Rescue Volunteer, Inc.
77-0360048
I strongly support this grant application because it will directly fund resupplying emergency medical equipment and upgrading new search and rescue technologies.
Bucks Lake Volunteer Firefighters Incorporated
47-4026995
I strongly support this grant application because it will directly fund the purchase of safety equipment and medical supplies that are vital to emergency services.
Ebbetts Pass Fire District
94--1619280
I strongly support this grant application because it will directly fund the purchase of safety equipment and medical supplies that are vital to emergency services.
International Racing Rescue Crew
45-4526360
I strongly support this grant application because it will directly fund the purchase of safety equipment and medical supplies that are vital to emergency services.
CEMX INC
45-4092533
I strongly support this grant application because it provides direct and clearly defined funding that would enable CEMX, Inc. to keep CEMX open providing a viable, safe, clean, well maintained and well managed regional OHV recreational area that benefits the public.
City of Tehachapi
95-6000801
I strongly support this grant application because the City of Teachapi will use the money to continue development and construction of a 13-acre motocross park to be utilized by local residents and visitors.
This project is for by designing and constructing an effluent disinfection station at the motocross facility which will use the effluent for dust control and landscape irrigation. This station will make beneficial use of secondary effluent from the City's 1.25-MGD wastewater treatment plant.
This proposal provides a sustainable beneficial use for otherwise unusable wastewater. The motocross park will need water, why not use as much recycled water as possible? This will be beneficial in the long run.
California Recreation Alliance
45-4125925
I strongly support this grant application because it will directly fund opening and operation of a 100-acre OHV park by leasing existing timerland, therefore requiring no ground disturbing activity. Coastal Mendocino County currently has no legal OHV opportunities for off-road enthusiasts so adding this 100-acre land will take the burden off private- and protected-land, reducing trespassing, environmental and monetary damages.
Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee, Inc.
23-7413415
I strongly support this grant application because it directly funds the restoration of protected habitats for sensitive wildlife species. The project will also install protective barriers to prevent unauthorized (intentional and unintentional) trespass from adjacent OHV routes.
