Off-road training

Need moar dirt
I recently got some dirt bike training here in the southbay, and I highly recommend Mike Rufstorfer if you are in need of some training.

It was a 3hr one-on-one class, and Mike provided a loaner bike for me (cr250) – we road at Metcalf.

He is an accomplished rider and dirt/enduro racer, and has been teaching for 14yrs. We spent the first bit him observing me riding and then began with fundamentals and technique – posture on the bike, arms/elbows (up!), weight transfer, etc. and built on that, doing exercises on the flat track first and then moving to the hillside. He would talk me through an exercise (like pushing from the outside with my knee on the tank and weighting the outside peg when taking a corner), then demonstrate it himself, then have me do it, and then critique/tweak and try again.

I could not believe the shit he had me doing at the end of the day :twofinger…he was an excellent teacher and I learned lots – I was flicking the bike up on the side of a hillside along the trails…literally riding on the edge of the tires :teeth …and did some amazing hillclimbs, and the turning skills were exactly what I needed. :thumbup:thumbup

I thought his rates were very reasonable - $50/hr + $50 for bike rental – you can ride your own as well. He will do adventure bikes as well as dirt/DS…I already put what I learned re turning into practice this past wknd on the vstrom – frigging amazing difference…big bike actual wants to turn now :rofl :teeth

His contact info is below (he’s also a MSF certified dirt bike coach). I highly recommend him and will be going back. I believe he can meet you at different locations if the southbay doesn’t work for you.
