NYD ride...

Looks like it's going to be 64° up North tomorrow thinking about spinning some wheels. What do you think the traffic will be like? I can't say I have ever ridden on NYD. :ride

I doubt any of you will be up in the Chico area, but if you are hit me up for a quick trip down 36.

My riding friends expect me to organize a NYD ride every year.

I've ridden to taverns or to a mid-point picnic spot with friends every NYD since I moved here from Minnesota in '83, except for the few that got rained out (we rode no matter the temperature, we just adjusted the radius of the ride down if too cold). At first to send pics back to snowbound riding friends in Mpls, now because it's become a tradition/habit.

For me and a half dozen friends it's 95 miles roundtrip with a midpoint picnic at a friend's ranch tomorrow.

Only pussies vegetate on their couches on NYD. Unless it's raining. :teeth

Nice! How is the traffic? I would imagine it's not too bad till later when people are starting to head home.

And those heading out to breakfast/brunch for a hangover cure.

I don't recall riding NYD, but we'd always go skate on major holidays when I was younger and cops, security and concerned citizens were never anywhere to be found. I'd be a bit concerned about those hungover/still drunk riding out early in the morning, but that's not based in any fact.

Pick your route for minimal traffic, you can decide where to ride to. Tomorrow we're meeting at 10am, home by 4pm. Riding over Mt. Hamilton this year, my friend has a ranch near The Junction that is off-road paradise so we're on dualsports. Carmel has been a nice midpoint for previous NYD rides on road bikes.

A NYD ride is a great way to start off the New Year, and it sets the tone for the entire year. :ride
