...but rather returning.

I bailed out from BARF in 2015 because things got pretty douchy and this always awesome forum became a bit polluted with some pretty sick minded thread.

I said I would never come back but in my old(ish) age I should know to never say never.

This morning I woke up and started thinking about BARF and how many people I really like here and how great overall the community was, including such kind words toward me during my abrupt ending to my racing career and subsequent rehabilitation (which was well chronicled in the now apparently absent "Riders on the Mend").
I bailed out on the poisonous FB about a year ago and realized that I really miss my connections here with people like Ernie, Berto, Nick, Brian, Korn and that Eastern European fella (unless he got DE-ported) to name just a few.

Life has been taking some odd but good turns since I left and as bored as I am, linking back up with all of you should be nice. I will keep out of the drama but still try to contribute if I can be helpful.

The always sarcastic DrSwade aka Rob.

Welcome back!

If you remember that we are just a bunch of (mostly) faceless internet superheros, then you'll remember to let most the shit roll off your back. There are maybe only a half dozen barfers who know me personally, and maybe only two dozen that I've met (mostly in the classifieds). It is what it is, and we're all pretty much just keyboard warriors in the end.

hey Rob

Nice to see you post. On every trail there is a piece of shit to step in. Just knowing where to place your feet will keep you in the fun side of barf.

Perhaps the Political section being private will remove some of the stuff that pissed you off.

Glad you came back. :cool

Welcome back.
One of my many wise sayings is...

Those who show up, rock.

The interntts is lotsa things, but those who come to community gatherings enjoy... Stuff others miss. Freaking good times BARFERs have in the real world.

On line banter is pretty amusing too, but judgement must be applied. Duh.

Thanks fellas..and especially you Budman.

I couldn’t disagree more about “we are all keyboard warriors”. BARF as a whole is FAR from that world. I have met some supercool cats, catesses and crazy cat ladies (Wendy) or BARF. I made a life long friend in Beau, who I only met less than a year ago in meat space after 10 years cyber-connecting. He’s one of the most fair dinkum dudes I’ve come across in my life.
All the BARF get together I’ve been to and BARF people from AFM have/has been some of the highlights of my last 10 years.
Even the camaraderie from people I have never met.
A fond memory ofBeau and I jabbing at each other once in the sink and some newb chimed in in a weird way. Hooli jumps in and advises the newb to “tread lightly”.
Where in this world of self indulgent egocentrism can you find that? Awesome!

I think I’ll do an update in the ROTM thread. What a strange few years it’s been.

never say never! :thumbup

here’s your On the Mend thread:
Slapped by the racing gods..or DrSwade's day of excitement turns to months of misery.

Wow...! I just read your entire ROTM thread. I had an external fixator on my wrist once (MX race at Carnegie in 2000) and it was an ever-lovin' nightmare. I simply cannot imagine enduring what you've gone through! Good on you for maintaining a healthy attitude, and for doing what you needed to do to move forward in positive fashion. And welcome back! :thumbup
