This is an ongoing investigation of a rider died today in Fremont.

I'm shocked to see pictures of the vehicle who hit him. At first I thought maybe it was cleanup afterwards, but I believe 2 of the windows were covered completely with cardboard.

I'm not sure the blocked view was a direct factor, since the driver was coming at the rider, but I can't imagine driving with cardboard flapping is safe in anyway.

The early investigation indicated the motorcyclist was going west on Fremont Boulevard, police said. As the motorcycle neared the intersection, a vehicle going east turned left onto Brown Road right in front of it, police said.

The two collided in the westbound lanes.

doesn't like crashing
I'm trying to figure out if that is the offending car or not. News article calls it a hit-and-run, and says the vehicle fled. Could that be another involved car?

motorcyclist died early Wednesday in a hit-and-run collision with another vehicle on a major commute boulevard...

The vehicle fled, but police said they later contacted the driver at a motel room close to where the crash happened.

It looks like the Mercury News / East Bay Times got that detail wrong. From KPIX:
The car’s driver, and possibly a passenger, got out and ran away, police said, but left clues in the car about their destination: the Motel 6 less than a 1/2 mile from the crash site.

Officers went to the motel and detained two individuals for questioning.

“Right now, investigators have two people of interest that we’re talking to,” said Fremont police Lt. Ariel Quimson. “One of them being the registered owner of the vehicle.”

Geeebus already... condolences to the family and friends of the rider :rose.

I know its not always easy to see the monkey coming at you making a left.
Everyone do yourself a favor, look and slow down when you see that person who just might turn left in front of you.

"was in his 20s" Rest in peace, young man.

Have to wonder if that cardboard wasn't put on by LEOs to cover up something?

Condolences to his family and friends.. sad day. :rose

They said in the news piece that card board was put on to protect the scene. So sad to see a lonely tennis shoe in the debris.
