Newbie here!

Hello all,
After reading a couple of posts, I realize I probably did everything "wrong."
I am 68 years young :afm199 and recently purchased a 2009 BMW F800GS with 24k on the clock. I do have previous motorcycle experience but that was decades ago! I did manage to get one experience out of the way already... I dumped the bike! AND... I picked it back up! (low speed stoopid!)

I have extensive mechanical experience and even took a formal motorcycle mechanics class. Again, that was years ago. Never would have thought FI would make it's way on to anything with 2 wheels! I am definitely going to be getting the bike in for service and evaluation ASAP!

I did get good riding gear and I am signed up for the California Motorcyclist class.

So please be gentle with me... I intend to take whatever classes and do whatever I need to do keep myself and those around me as safe as possible

THANKS ALL!

I appreciate all the encouragement!
Went for a ride in the city today (Sat) and initially? It was a bit intimidating. But after rolling around for a few I settled in and just did it. Managed to get in some low-speed and hard braking practice in one of the Presidio lots (I LIKE ABS!) But I know I need a LOT more time in the saddle!

Y'all are a buncha motoheads ya know! (my kinda people!)
Been getting more & more confident (NOT overly so!) Took a ride along Skyline Blvd & 1 to Pacificia and actually got into 6th gear and over 50mph! Bike is nice, I'm likin this!
Again. Thanks for all the encouragemet. A side note; Anyone familiar with "MotoGuild" DIY shop on Treasure Island?

Welcome to BARF, Scruffyboy! You've come to the right place. BARF is chock full of super useful information and tons of people that are way smart about all kinds of stuff. I'm not one of them, unfortunately :laughing
