Hello BARF!

First, thanks for creating such an amazing resource! I have benefited tremendously from lurking around while I was looking for a bike, taking the MSF and reading up on crash analysis, etc.

Over the years I have ridden a variety of motorized vehicles but this is my first time owning a street bike and riding asphalt. Other than the MSF I have read Proficient Motorcycling, More Proficient Motorcycling, Twist of the Wrist II (and the DVD) and Total Control. I have a background riding and racing road bicycles and mountain bicycles and motorcycles seemed like a great compliment. My only regret is not starting sooner!

I picked up a KTM RC 390 in July and am closing in on 2000 miles. Last weekend I did my first overnight motorcycle trip (to San Simeon via Nacimiento Road) and am already looking forward to my next weekend getaway.

Hope to meet some of you out on the road one of these days!

Welcome Reed! My good friend just picked up a RC390, beautiful bike. I used to race DH Mountain bikes back in the day, I definitely miss riding Northstar and Big Bear.

That RC390 is a great looking moto. I saw a couple up at Alice's as I was leaving after having breakfast last Sunday... I wouldn't mind having one of those beauties to play with.

I see you did Nacimiento-Ferguson road already, that's a pretty sweet road. Did you take CA-25 on the way down?

I took 35 to Summit/Highland/Eureka Canyon, Elkhorn to Hwy 1 and then out the Carmel Valley to Jolon Road. On the way back I did Nacimiento to Carmel Valley and then 1 the rest of the way since I was running out of light.

Nice! When I went down to Nacimiento, I was with another BARFer, we took 25 to Coalinga Rd, then from there 198 to King City then to Jolon then down to Nacimiento-Ferguson then 1 home... good times! :) There's plenty more fun roads around us, so get to it! :teeth
