New on Netflix: Speed Is My Need

Just caught this last night. Pretty well done. Didn’t care for a lot of Colin Edwards’s macho commentary (“when I line up on the grid I’m thinking I wanna tear off your head and crap down your neck.” Really? Umm... no).

Did like the comments from the psychologists, though. Wish there was even more of that. Worth a watch.

Really?
I love motorcycle documentaries. But if it has that macho stuff, I'm out. I will check it anyways.

Real good video minus that comments of C.E. but if you have ever been to the boot camp, you know... it's really nice :)

I enjoyed the documentary and CE's comment didn't bother me at all... It's just how he talks I guess, but I'm sure he doesn't really imagine that when he competes. I still can't find anything that has resonated as deep as Hitting The Apex, but I hope they continue to make documentaries like this.

Hitting the Apex was amazing. I keep hoping for a follow up.

You should check out "Road" on Netflix. Doc about the Dunlop family and road racing.

TT: Closer to the Edge is a great doc following Guy Martin at the TT back in 2010 (?). Probably my favorite among Hitting the Apex series and Road. There's an awesome shot of Guy Martin outrunning a helicopter cam, it's insane.

2wheels good 4wheels bad
Watched last night. I was entertained. It was like the British perspective of two wheeled motorsports.

Im not a huge fan of Leon Haslam, so I would have rather they followed someone a little more interesting like Scott Redding, but the IoM TT portion was really well done.

Last part felt like a fifteen minute infomercial for the Texas Tornado Boot Camp™

Worth a watch. Probably not worth a rewatch.

Dug it. :port

Freddie’s comments were really good and the dig into the psychology of the sport was cool.

I enjoyed the Leon/Ron dynamic.

Colin was cool. Nothing to deep but I thought he was good. Others were more insightful but the Texas Tornado was fun.

Freddie's input was about the only redeemable aspect of the film for me.
I have seen this film done in various ways over and over again.
There is drama within a race season, motorcycles are dangerous and sometimes people die. The gladiators put their helmets back on and ride through it.
I got it.

But what happens to the ex racers that don't set up riding schools?

Clearly they must all be in mental institutions according to the conclusions reached by the psychologists! :laughing
