New nice car?

I'm always in the market for cars, but my wife has decided she doesn't like my attitude when something goes wrong with the old cars I drive. So I just test drove a 2016 IS350. Seriously nice car, it's in the running. Also considering a new one, as they have some nice incentives at the moment. Anything else I should be considering in the 30-45k range? Sporty sedan, reliable, fun to drive. Salesman suggested 35 for a freeway onramp in sport+ mode, so I entered the ramp at 35, then gunned it :laughing definitely a nice powerful well mannered car. Anything else compete?

Tesla Model 3 would crush that POS. Well within that price range too, even less for the more basic model.

We take the occasional long trip and have a family house in Russian River. Not sure I can commit to full electric. Also, I really don't like Tesla's repair rules and policies. Minor fender bender? 8 month wait at a certified body shop, even longer if it's a real repair.

If we are talking new, I would test drive a Kia Stinger GT, Genesis G70, and Alfa Romeo Giulia. They can be had easily in your price range. Especially the Kia will make most of the competition feel slow.

In your Price Range for the R/T. It will make the rest of the things mentioned feel slow.

It really depends what's important to you.

The R/T is fast, but the interior is trash.
The Alfa is nice, but very unreliable.
The Lexus is reliable, but handling is vague. Although interior build quality is decent.
and it goes on.

Look at the things that you NEED to have and build a car from there.
For example;
-must have Xenon or LED headlights
-rain sensing wipers
-auto dimming mirrors
-comfort access or keyless go
etc.

Get us that list of deal breaking items it needs and let's go from there.

I'm gonna drop it to 30-35k...

Random ancillaries like led headlights or 27 million way adjustable seats don't matter as long as its comfortable.

They had a Maserati on the lot, 2015 for 30k, I assume that's in the same group as the alfa?

Alfa, Mazer, Fiat... Oh, Dodge and Jeep.
Ferarri too. Fiat Chystler, huge company. I think Molson Coors owns them all.

Edit... Brilliant cars too.
Edit 2. I passed a Challenger today with an "American Muscle" bumper stickie.

you can pick up a nice charger or challenger with the 392 for about 42k otd. if i were you id pick a couple models and go to car max and test drive them all. they dont hassle you as much as each dealer will

Hard to go wrong with a Lexus. It’s been my favorite car. I would get the LS next time but couldn’t rationalize it when I bought the ES.

I drove Eric’s Alfa 4C; lots to like. I still prefer a standard manual to the DCT.

The 8C is spectacular. Was? Do they make those anymore?

The Maserati Ghibli wasn’t worth that even when it was brand new. Absolute trash car. Hard pass on it even if it was free.

This is my daily driver. I can get you into one of these brand new for close to $35k. Has to be AWD if you want some proper handling. Speed...meh. I’m not impressed, but I’ve had much faster cars than this in my life already. 290hp is still nothing to sneeze at for most people.

Full disclosure downside? We’re in the last year of production for this generation. All new TLX will be on sale in maybe half a year. So if you have FOMO of the latest and greatest, then don’t look at this car. But it’s what allows a $45k to go for close to $10k off.

Just read up, those are very tempting... too bad the g70 is up at the top of that range.

IMO, you really can't have all of those without really giving one of them up. I love BMW's, I think for being sport sedans, you can't beat them. I also believe it's the closest to all of what you want. However, it might lack a little reliability, or some would say. My wife and I currently lease a 2016 BMW 428i Gran Coupe. I absolutely love it. I think it's a great looking car, it can fit a christmas tree inside because of the hatch design. the infotainment and nav screen are angled a couple degrees towards the driver but it makes all the difference. nothing like my old M4 but for my wife to drive daily, i couldnt be happier.
The Lexus sounds like what might suit you best, it will give you a good amount of reliability but I think the handling sucks. Then again, I think that about a lot of cars, in fact, most of them, lol.

When I worked at the auction in Hayward, I only saw a few Maserati's. and most of them caught fire for some reason.

What about safety? is that a concern for you?
crash test ratings?
collision avoidance, assisted breaking, etc?

trust me, really sit down and think about the small things. you wouldn't believe how many customer i get that tell me, had they known something about their car, they would not have purchased it.

...for limited time...
I bought an 2010 Audi Q5 in November. One owner, 76k miles. It has the 3.2 which isn’t the engine I wanted but I am pleased with the performance over the 2 liter turbo. Hard to beat Audi interiors and AWD. They are $54k new so I considered this a bargain. I had to fly to San Diego to get it though. AWD cars are stupid expensive in the PNW. SD people don’t even want Quattro.

I bought a new Tundra in 2010. Never say never but I doubt I will ever buy a new car again. Even at 0%.
