Myself and a few others will get this..

However, after owning 2 KTM 690 SMCs. It's hard to get excited about a bike that's essentially the same as the '08 690 SMC.

Same motor, same frame, same forks, same swingarm, same rear gas tank.

About the only obvious difference is gas tank shape and body work.

My femur man.. Just found out today that I actually have a meniscus tear now that has been a ticking time bomb.. So now I have a recovering femur and a fucked meniscus happy Friday :)

That's pretty much my take on it, too. Still, it's a sweet bike.

Another former SMC owner here...

Wish it got the new "real" 690cc KTM motor. Shitty roller bearings and rocker arms here we go again!

And after the VW fiasco, the only difference is that this one won't be able to cheat its way past a proper emissions test. :laughing

I dunno, not enough wind protection for me. And that seat doesn't look very comfortable. Will it carry panniers and a top case and the wifey comfortably? What about the generator, is it enough for all my farkles and heated gear? Meh.

You know, I've been looking at 690s lately and I can't figure out this rocker arm bearing thing. All I can find are useless mega-threads on bike forums. Is there a year after which this motor does not have this problem?

Is this a serious response?

Maybe you don't understand the concept of what a supermoto is supposed to be used for. :laughing

For serious, I'm wondering the same thing...

Wow. Manfred for President.

Some nice plain-speak going on there:

The new 701 Supermoto is 145 kg and 67 HP. That’s enough to have some serious fun, right?

“The 701 is an incredible single-cylinder bike. How much fun a rider will have depends on their ability, on the bike’s purpose, and other factors. For a supermoto rider, for fast cornering and easy handling, it’s definitely enough.”
