I didn't read all the specs but I hope it's not like the CRF250L which is not even close to the CRF250X as far as I know.
If it's just a plated CRF450X with a cat and lights, that will be cool.

Yeh, I have been reading both wide and close in different articles too. I suspect its really a wide ratio 6 as it wouldnt make sense for a close ratio in either the new X or L.

The ADV pulse article is good insight. Reading between the lines, neither of these bikes were designed to be ready to race KTM beaters. Rather lower maintenance, longer motor life, and yet still very off road worthy with top shelf suspension.

The new L at 295lbs is a full 25lbs lighter than a DRZ400S and the X at 275lbs is 20lbs heavier than a KTM500 EXC-F. Since the L is basically an X, I suspect there will be lots of opportunity to drop weight much like the old DRZ's E and S models.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more. Curious if a kickstart can be added back on as well.

I'm in! But I'll wait a year or two, and buy someone's used bike for 1/2 price. :twofinger

Right! It does sound like the basis of a really good Honda Dual Sport. Remove the heavy cat silencer, do whatever is needed in the intake tract and figure out the ECU. Boom, a fast Honda 6 speed dual sport.

I watched the sea turn from Red to Orange starting in 2003. I'd like to see the pendulum swing the other way. Honda makes a solid bike, and I'd take a few more pounds to have it more reliable than many of the KTMs.

Go Team Red!

I don't know what that trail is, but the builder needs to learn to wheelie. Who builds an aluminum bridge over a little shallow creek? :wow

I agree with all of this, Hondas are runners. I really wish there was a backup kickstart though. Also this may push Kawasaki and Yamaha to make a more dirt worthy dual sport. There might be a really cool shift in the dual sport scene in the next few years.

The WR450F basically just needs turn signals and prolly emissions work
