My note3 (best phone ever) has finally stopped functioning.
I need a new comperable device.

Must have:
Android
Large "phablet" style
IR blaster
Physical buttons on front or side (no rear, can't reach)
open two apps on one screen.

These are all things the old phone did.
Go!

I'm a phoone freak and the note 8 is the current cream of the crop. Love it

If it makes it to the US Huawei Mate 10(non pro version) I'm not sure about the 2 apps on a screen portion, that might still be samsung specific, but it does all the other things.

The list with an IR blaster is pretty short, and most are brands and companies without much US presence.

Note 4 is old enough you can root and put Lineage OS on it without worrying.

Lemme research some other shit that might be an option. You are on ATT right?

No worries man I ordered a note4 yesterday.

I never wanted to get rid of my Note 3 except that it stopped working so if it's a step up I'm happy.

I use Ting which is Sprint last time I checked but they updated some stuff since I signed up.

Fuck, you're right. Well my 3 gave me a good four years so I guess I'm good for another three or four with the note4.

:nchantr apps will probably go obsolete on me though

I am still running a NOTE 4, and it appears to be at the end of its life cycle. The Software is starting to blip and bloop on me. Maybe if it is flashed to factory and upgraded, it would have some more life with a new battery though?

A factory reset is certainly worth a try.

My gf's four year old Nexus6 was bogging down and occasionally rebooting.

The reset breathed new life into the phone. Reasonably fast again and no reboots now.

But set aside at least one hour for this process to finish.

I'm at the end of the second battery on the 3 so I'm hopeful I can use it as a backup phone if I reset it.

I have my old Sprint Note 3 sitting in a drawer somewhere, it's in good shape and lived in an Otterbox it's whole life. If you want it I'll sell it to you cheap, I gotta find it first though :laughing

Yeah, I figured, but I don't like my tech to get too ancient. Factory reset, do all the updates, blah blah. Helps with Windows machines too.
