Cream Puff???
Paid for the firt time for the very expensive car wash at the place on contra costa ave... Always washed my car with just soap and wwater and never treated with chemicals.. Now my car in 20 min ...paint is chipping and peeling to the bare silver metal.

They won't take responsibility and say it's my fault.

Deeply disturbing.. I need recommendations so i can get a fwe quotes and check the places out before i make a decision. I have to get my car painted.

Thanks barf.

Do you have any photos or more details? There's no such thing as anything close that would be considered a paint removing chemical used in the auto detail industry. As for body shops, good reviews for Qube autobody in SF from a friend of mine. I have had excellent work from Industrial auto body. The hard part will be finding a quality place to take non-insurance work for a reasonable price. Insurance work is just easier for them.

I'll take some pics to show you guys. I don't kniw what happened. I got the car painted in Pittsburg at Maaco just a couple years back. The guy at the place on contra costa ave car wash said.. That his chemicals reacted with what was spreyed on the car before hand. And that his chemicals just washed was on there off because the chemical beforehad had already stripped the paint. The car went in looking shiny and just fine. 45 min later after they were done.. I went to the car.. And after i drove into the sun .. 5 min later i get out at the grocery store and i see that my car paint is peeling and all dull on top on the surface.

I went straigt back and showed the car wash guy that there was an oil like substance on my car. I put my finger on it and bubbed it a bit.. And shwed him that there was some kind of chemical that was on there..

What's the value of this car? Expect to spend $3-5k for a legitimate paint job. Possibly more to fix whatever maaco did to the paint.

Good paint is pretty expensive, and not something a car wash can typically take off.
I suspect other issues here.

And I am looking for a paint job too. Prolly gonna go to Yeaman, but yeah, thousands $$$.

Thanks.

Just sharing, but I have been looking around, and good paint is expensive, and leaving my old car with some dude I do need know makes me nervous.
I don’t really do the insurance thing. I take responsibility for my shit, er, I self insure.

I never crash, so far. I drive around all those other... regular folks. And yeah, I do drive like you guys.

At first I was like "a car wash took off the frickin' paint!!???!?!?"

Maaco says it all... sorry to say, but Maaco paint jobs are garbage. They do the bare minimum for prep (prep is everything when it comes to paint) and use the cheapest materials possible.
