Hey all - doing the Reno 200 ADV/DS ride in mid-September, and looking for camping recommendations in the Reno/Verdi area, say within 30miles. If you''re interested in the ride, go here for more info.

Prefer tent camping sites, can be improved or unimproved.

Take a look at Pyramid Lake. I've camped there in a car before...many years ago. Interesting place.

I live in Reno. The camp grounds in the city and in Sparks are all in druggy neighborhoods. I would stay away from all of them. I think this is what the poster of the comment about "meth zombies" was trying to tell you.

Boomtown has a campground and, being a casino, probably has decent security. Also, Cabella's is right there in case you forgot something.
