Was not sure where to post this. Was not quite a job and is not moto related, so I figured here was a good of place as any. If I was wrong, feel free to move it or point me in the right direction.

So, I have developed 2 product ideas but need help with them.
One of designs is almost complete, while the other is still in the design phases. They are both prototypes to see if the idea will work the way I want it to and is ideally applicable. If they were to work out, this could turn into something bigger.

In essence, they are AR rifle scope mounts, but not quite like anything offered already. I came up with a design and want to have the both built for my ar to test out.

If anyone can help, or knows anyone that can help, please have them get in touch. Honestly, if I can avoid paying retail, I would really like to, because these will probably be expensive and not sure I could afford to have them made. THANKS!

If you have cad models, get some.3d printed prototypes first. They should be fairly cheap and will provide good proof of concept

A good machinist is as skilled as a surgeon. Asking for a discount when you have no prior relationship is the same as panhandling.

Cross post this to the BARF militia thread-- there's a couple of CNC machining industry guys in there IIRC.

Auntiebling -

Good point, and apologize for that oversite. As being a 3d artist in my past life, I can completely understand this.

No vitriol... you're OK..

Check out shape ways and redeyeondemand for 3d printing. Red eye has an online quote thingy if you already have the files. If you don't, drop a line. I have done this stuff and can help, and I'll sign NDAs to your hearts content

3d print them first for proof of concept

NDA's don't really mean a whole lot unless you have the means to go after them (ie the funds to do so)... and an NDA won't really protect you in the manufacturing side of this. Nothing prevents them from copying your idea and manufacturing it themselves... File a patent first, provisional is better then nothing, especially if you have a CAD of it already.

I've got a guy down in San Luis Obispo. I am a CNC guy , but no side work is allowed where I work. My buddy isn't a gun guy or a scammer, I'm pretty sure he won't snake your ideas or parts. I'll give you his number if you want.

I'm an ME, you could PM me.

You may be able to prototype your design with poster board before you spend real money.

There are a lot of hobbyist doing 3d printing, you may be able to find some one to print you part for the cost to the material.

You can get a lot of free help from http://www.practicalmachinist.com/.

I work in a patent practice at a prestigous silicon valley law firm. I'm not a lawyer myself but I help out with drafting and patent prosecution matters. If you have questions about getting stuff through the USPTO I may be able to help or point you in the right direction.

I am also pretty knowledgable and well versed in firearms.

Also, the true utility, value, and patentability of your invention may not be obvious in the early stages to even the inventor. If you are serious about this you will want to talk to an experienced patent attorney. Feel free to PM me.
