Yeah, that was close. In that situation, I'd do whatever I could to NOT be overtaking that car on the left while passing that parking lot.

That would involve slowing down. It took me years to learn how to do that.:afm199

Looked kinda fast for that area. Not a great place to ride and expect any vehicle (2 or 4 wheeled) to be maneuvering in a standard format.

Yeah, that was on you not the car. They absolutely should have used their blinker but you put yourself between a slowing car and an entrance...that's bad juju. Glad it only cost you a little seat foam. I pulled that same move years ago and somehow pulled off a Blue Angels move and rode right next to the car into a driveway with no damage done. Never did THAT again.

All good advice above. But next time I'd also use the horn. That's what's in there for.
That's unreasonable and rather rude for someone in a parking lot trying to get into a parking space.

The rider should have waited a few seconds to determine what the car was going to do.

To me that was all your bad. You are near parking spots with a slow moving vehicle clearly looking for a parking spot. Time to slow down and wait for them to make a move.

Never go between a car and a parking spot. :afm199

Also never go between another vehicle and a driveway. I can't tell you how many times I think about passing because the vehicle in front of me is going slow only to have them pull a left without signaling.

I did that twice back in the 70's before I figured out not to go around someone swinging wide to get into their driveway on the left.

My general rule is to not pass anyone on the left if there is anything at all on the left they might want to turn into - at least until I've been behind them long enough to determine that they won't be going left.

It's rude, indeed. I think it's more rude not to use the indicators, however.

The horn is to avoid an accident, not to teach a lesson. No matter who was prudent or not in the circumstances.

Californians are too shy to use the horn, I think. Horn is there for a reason, no offense intended. You may be in the wrong, still use the horn, I say.

First thing, stay on your own side of the road. Secondly, if you wanna ride like Duhamel sign up for a track day. The BBB has enough members.

So do you honk at everyone on the road near you that doesn't use their signal?

Northern California would sound like New York City if everyone did that. :x

Uhm, I wasn't on the wrong lane. It was a two lane one way road in that area.
