Fuck.
I've pulled in there with a Nimitz-class carrier. Slightly larger than the hospital ships. It's a tight squeeze, but manageable. Sad that the maneuvering team screwed this one up. Gawd, of all the places to be a hundred yards off course.

doesn't it seem a bit emotional and shortsighted to leave a derelict blocking Pearl Harbor?

Its a tomb for 1500 men.
I can appreciate the significance of the site. I respect what it represents.
just remember for second we cleared Ground Zero completely to build a new tower we didn't build on top of the wreckage.
we also cleared the wreckage of all the other ships
I'd say it was the Tug crew and not the maneuvering crew
I doubt they were under sail
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I've only been on submarines but once a tug took lines the safety of the vessel belongs to them.
The captain is going to get it for this. It's his vessel and the safety falls to him-if the tugs were pushing him off course, he should've caught it and brought it to their attention.
It is absolutely a tourist attraction and a monument. It's also a tomb and a memorial. The USS Arizona Memorial is not a tourist attraction, a monument or anything of the sort.
It is a tomb and a memorial. Full Stop.
