My race 4 review with video

I only raced Super50 this day. Coming from registration Linda noticed I only had 1 tech card. She said "Pretty long drive for only 1 class." She made me think. I think I'll race Super50 and Novice Trophy dash to get some more laps in.

The morning was relatively cold. My tires are shagged so I was basically sliding in the turns. You may be able to see in the video where I was sliding in the left to right transition in the chicane. My rear tire slid several times in the left turn before the front straight. My tires killed my corner and exit speeds. I had to shut of or get on the throttle late because my tires were sliding. Hopefully I'll find some time to get my tires changed out before the next race. I think I finished 3rd to last. Excuses, excuses. I sound like Max Biaggi.

Here's the video. You'll need to fast forward 3 minutes into the video since I started taping a little early. The nice thing about being passed by almost everybody, at least I got almost everyone on video.

The screw came off the bottom of my camera so the video jumps around quite a lot. It's like watching The Blair Witch Project. If you get motion sick easily, skip this video and watch the next one.

Super 50 Main

Mark and I had a really good battle for 7th and 8th. We weren't good enough to be competetive with the front runners this day but we had a fine old battle between us.

You can see how his NSR pulls away from me in the straights. Mark did a good job late braking several times to keep me from passing. I can only get up to 5th on the straight. I figure i'll need to change the gearing to be able to use all 6 gears. Hopefully it will help my acceleration and help me keep the other bikes from pulling on me in the straights. I have a 52 tooth rear sprocket which Calamari says is the largest they have. I ordered a 12 and 13 tooth counter sprocket and I'll be gving those a try to see if they help in the next couple of races.

You'll have to fast forward 3 minutes into this video as well since I started taping early.

Stock YSR Main crash

I bought a 2 gig card for my camera to make sure I didn't run out of memory. Since I had some extra memory I decided to tape the Stock YSR main. After about 2 minutes I stopped taping since they were only on screen for about 30 seconds when they passed by in the ling left hand turn. I wanted to tape the awsome battle for 3rd 4th 5th and 6th spots when I saw this crash on the last lap. I also got Kubiks and jmseven at the end of this vid. Thank god for hay bayles.

Thanks for posting, Joe. These vids really come in handy.

BTW. The vid in the Super 50 Main is zoomed to give it that close racing effect. :teeth

Great vids Joe! Looks like you and Marc were having some fun mixing it up!
Thanks for posting these. I think for < $100 I'm gonna need to get one also.

Oh yeah, who was the one who turfed it on the ysr. Took me a minute to figure out where they crashed. He must have been booking it through that corner to swing so wide. Glad those haybails are there also. Whew.

That was the kid that comes in with his dad from, I thing Big Sur or something. They set up along the fence next to the fairgrounds parking lot with their fifth wheel. I can't remember his name.

He had the holeshot and was making everyone fight for the pass. He lowsided right before the checkered too. Nobody can say he didn't give it his all.

This thread goes over the cams Tom and I use. Hopefully more folks will put cameras on their bikes. It's cool to watch the videos after the race. It's real easy to post them up on google video afterwords.

I should clarify he dropped down to I think fifth place on the lasrt lap, but he was just a few feet from the finish line.

I don't know why he didn't push the bike across. He might have even done better than last place if he did.

Hey secn8ure

why do you put your left hand behind your back on some of the straights?

BTW, I ordered a camera too. I have a 2gig card so, once I figure out how to mount the camera (maybe with Tom's help), we will have more videos to watch. Unfortunately, they will be in the back. Maybe I can start in the front and get everyone passing me.

Great Vid... Joe The bike does not sound right. That bike should be faster. :teeth

The bike should be faster but I've gained 20 lbs since you and I raced. I'm just happy it's running. Last season I was having some serious problems with it. Now that it's running consistently I just need to do some fine tuning to get it running the way it used to. Plus I need to dump some weight off my already fat a$$.

Tod, I here you need to furnish your kick ass house. I hope to see you out there again one day.

Joe

I just got my camera. I got the same one joe has. I already had a 2 gig sd card so I just need to figure out a way to mount it. I am pretty amazed at what these little things can do. I will probably use it on trips because it records pretty good video and it isn't nearly as tragic if you lose this versus a $500+ camera. I am hoping to have it mounted by our next race.

Joe, how does the battery hold up? Should I grab a second one?

Sorry for the late response. I extend it to keep the blood flowing. My left arm/hand somehow gets tired (from my death grip I guess). I call this "The Mario" because I saw him do it a few times and wondered why. Though I'm not sure if he does it for the same reason or just to look cool.

how much do those cameras cost.. the video quality is pretty good. i bought one of those cheap tony hawk helmet cams. i had brought it to the last race but i had left it on recording on the way to the track.. DOH.
