My MRD Tach

Thanks to Pierce of Podperformance it arrived in less than 5 business days from the time of order.

Designed for a race bike, I ran into fitament issues. I was gonna ace the old guage but I wasn't sure if the bike would idle without the original stuff plugged in. On top of that, if I installed the tach bracket I couldn't use the key switch. I guess it would be okay if I stripped my bike to be a race only, but that's not the case.

I found cable guides from my mountain bike days that would hold the MRD alum bracket on the bars. I have both tachs in a piggy back fashion and disabled the OEM's RPM guage. Install was easy after figureing out how/where to mount the Tach and still be able to use the key switch.

an Acerbis Blitz plate graces the front end now.

and a MK 72SP top end, MK Pro Race crank, 24mm OKO carb and MK SP Thrower pipe adds to the smell and noise of the mini two smoke power.

Looks cool but...isn't youbike heavier now with 2 sets of guages?

How is the tach connected? How is the temp guage connected. Would it work on my race Derbi with all the wires cut off? PM me the price of the tach.

Yes it will work on your race derbi with no wiring. The temp sensor goes into the head where the orginal one was and the wires just wrap around the spark plug wire.

Hey bro, It's not that heavy and the OEM speedo/tach will go once I wire up an electronic speedo. Dan cleared up my fears that the bike will run without the OEM guage on the harness. I'll miss the low fuel light though..hmm gotta figure out which wires to tap on the harness.

Install was easy. It came with 3 differnt size water temp sensors (bling anodized red) and two RPM wire pickups. I used the one that wrapped around the spark plug wire like the ones that come with the TinyTach. I think I went overkill wrapping but wanted to make sure it picked up a good signal. The other type it came with plugs in between the CDI, but didn't want to mess with it unless the tiewrap version didn't pan out. I'm sure it would be a cleaner looking application.

Side note: Dan mentioned it doesn't work with a 4 stroke motor however, on the 1 page sheet of directions, it shows how to set the guage up for both 2T and 4T applications. I believe Mark (secn8ure) was interested in using this for a 4T application.

It was late when I finally got it wired up and never got around to setting the upshift light for that added bling bling EFEX when I drag race yo momma at the light :jaded

I said you would be the ginny pig on this one Eddie! Thanks for the good pictures and info. Maybe mark can try your set up out sometime to see if it would work on the 4 stroke well....

Oh and your new petcock will work nicely for a fuel gauge with the reserve setting on it. So don't worry about the light.

Nice setup, Eddie. I'm sure it'll look cleaner when it's mounted lower after you lose the oem gauge. The vid was dark, but I can see the needle going up and down. So the MRD has no illumniation? I would like to see the instructions the next time I see you.

I'll have to check this out once you have a Digi speedo installed/working.

Sounds like a sweet set-up for the Yerbi :teeth

Hey D, I'll be using a not so bling bike speedo.

The MRD Tach has the up shift light and montors only the water temp & rpms; you can't win 'em all.

On the box it says it does:

2T: up to 4 cylinders
4T: up to 12 cylinders

Hello... :cool

BTW Pierce I need to order jets. I seem to have misplaced the spare 2 jeys twinturba sold me with the motor. Now that's it's warmer it seems the 115 is a little rich. So I must go lower.

Can I get OKO jets from you?

Hey eddie you do know that any PWK jet will fit that carb right? Cause I bet you can get them at any yamaha shop close to you. It may be faster than waiting for me to ship them to you. Let me know

Ok I'll see what they have. I saw in my LP catalog they've got 2 kinds of Keihn - round and hex. Do you know the difference? I assume hex since that's what's currently in the carb.

In the morning when it's cold the bike can rev till tomorrow. When it's warm out it totally bogs. Too rich me thinks. I need to go down from 115.
