My FZ1

Just took some pics of my bike and wanted to put them up. Been lurking on BARF for a while now and thought I would make a post. It's an 06 with the euro headlight and I love everything about it.

Beautiful! :thumbup

The naked Euro version headlight looks waaay better in my opinion. Give us some details on what the headlight swap entailed...parts, cost, work involved...etc.

Great looking bike! Did a two up with Shawn Riley (sp?) on one and also took someone else's around the block. The one I road had bar risers, didn't really enjoy the position but the power was nice. Lofts the front wheel with a smooth roll on in 1st gear.

I actually bought the bike used with the euro headlight already installed, so I don't know a ton about it. I know that the kit can be bought from partshark.com, contact Chris. Last I heard he keeps one kit on hand at all times and the kit with everything needed is $500. From what I've heard the swap isn't all that bad with some basic wiring skills. Theres plenty of information at yamahafz1oa.com too. Thanks for the compliments, I love the look.

Triple Rrrr...
NICE!!! I almost got the 07 in the same color and on the way home from seeing the bike and making up my mind to get it my car broke down. So I got a new truck and passed on the bike. Sweet bike... :thumbup

Hey Brett,
Don't know if you get down to Oakland much but you may be interested in checking out my FZ1. It's been a test mule for a bunch of mods. focused on improving the handling and throttle response. You might want to consider doing some of these things to yours.

I think I've posted enough times how much I dig my FZ1 so I won't bore you with those details again. :laughing

Well, I'll just repeat one detail because it's relevant to this post: the FZ1 is an excellent track bike. Get the suspension adjusted, add a pipe and rearsets (for clearance), and it flat RIPS. It's so good, in fact, that I wondered how much fun it would be to race one. After hours of research online, I didn't find a single person anywhere in the world road-racing an FZ1 (people do race the FZ6). Even better. I'd be the first, as far as I knew, and it would be a cool project.

Bottom line: racing the FZ1 is a blast! See pics of the race bike below.

Cool bike, David. Is that a bike in the winner's circle, or an AFM podium bike? I have always thought the Fazer was a great bang for your buck, but wondered if it held its own against the R.

Ha ha. Yes, my bike IS in the winner's circle at Infineon during an AFM event but just for posing. It's a blast to race but it surely isn't competitive with an R1 or R6. Plus, I'm not exactly the fastest guy out there. I've been able to manage 2:02s on my FZ1 at Thunderhill.

And I love every single time you do. :drool :hail

I think it's time you start another thread. Unless you did one and I missed it, I don't remember seeing your FZ1 in race trim until now. It'll make an appearance at Infineon on the 5th, right? :thumbup
