My Flu Shot

I just exercise daily and try and eat a good diet. I never get flu shots and I have not been really sick in 10 years. 10 year ago I was in school and I was 15 lb heavier.

Everyone is hacking around me at work and I still don't catch it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
This year I was out for almost two weeks with the flu...

Next year I'm considering getting the shot

BUT

Don't know if those who were vaccinated also the same who also lost their lives or is it 50/50 or was it the cause for fatality..

I'm concerned cuz I know a few people who ended up hospitalized for months to years due to contaminated batches of vaccines..

I've got the shot for years. Seldom get sick in the winter. I take Vitamin D and A supplements as well.

Rolls with it...
I had my shot a month ago, and I haven't caught the bug that's going around while quite a few others have... I did, however, see the death certificate of an employee on some insurance paperwork I had to review.

Cause of death: Complications from H1N1

She was 36.

You probably have a better chance of dying from the flu than being hospitalized from the vaccine. And a just as much chance of being struck by lightning.
I did read somewhere that the flu shot is approximately 70% effective.

Most flu deaths are from underling issues including young people.

A drive in a car is still more risky than the flu.

Years ago I got the flu. Lost ten pounds in three days. I was in good health when I got it. Kicked my ass. Flu shots for me now.

Americans by and large have a terrible diet and get Little exercise, not enough sleep, and are over stressed.

All things with massive effects on immune system strength .

fresh fish in stock.....
this flu (H1N1) hits the immuno-competent...

meaning there's a good chance it will be worse WHEN you are healthy an have a healthy immune system.

It's having a strong immune system that kills you - your body overreacts to the virus (in your lungs) and basically drowns/suffocates ya...

kinda like an allergic reaction...from what I understand. That's why it's healthy under 65 that are dying

This is probably the reason we don't have more flu deaths than we already have. :afm199Quit being so healthy! You're gonna die from da flu!:afm199

Although miles away from the SF area, wifey and I got the flu shot.

So what was running around the area last month? A different strain. She caught it and was totally effed for 4 days whereas I got lucky and was clear.

This is EXACTLY my story.

Eat right and a minimum of 100 pushups a day; more often a couple hours in the garage with weights or in the ocean with the surf.

I'm just gonna wait for Jenny McCarthy to chime in with "flu shots cause autism"....

But, whatever works, I guess.

Does exercising help prevent AIDS or any other STD virus? Is there really any evidence that being in shape helps prevent the flu?
