I've passed a few by the side of the road while I'm riding but this is a first "close call" I've had with a deer... pretty much ruined my day after coming across it.
I was doing the speed limit because I've had a speeding ticket in the past 18 months and I'm just taking it easy..

Why are these things programmed to take motorcycles out? :|

I really love the Going Quantum podcast so I gave them a plug :ride

...That almost went into his grill. Stay away from the left side of the lane up there. People drive fucky and can easily make more fucky out of you and your horn.

I was in the left side of my lane because I had just passed a bicycle. I saw that car coming in the middle of the road right after I passed the bicycle... :|

Oh My Sack!

Rides at speed of smell
That was nothing. It's worse when two of them take you out. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

In all sincerity, I suggest you study and practice the skills of late apex riding. You're hugging that DY way too much for the twisties. It's one more facet of safe riding skills that will keep you alive on the road. www.streetmasters.com

Glad you survived 2 deers... :|
I'm actually not as close to the double as it looks. My camera is mounted on the left side of my helmet

Sorry, I'd rather get a little close to a bicycle than head-on into a car.

It'd be even worse if the car happened to be passing a bicycle, too, because people seem to have no problem with crossing the DY when OMG a bicycle was there & they need to give 10' clearance. Never mind that they're halfway into the oncoming lane.. I see this so often it's ridiculous.

Spending nearly all my riding time lately in the SCruz Mtns where bicycles are everywhere, especially now that the weather's nice, I've just come to assume that there's going to be a car passing a bicycle around every blind turn & place myself accordingly.

Deer are nothing. I have had a 1,000lb Bull Moose with a full rack step out in front of me in a turn while I was going 60. I nearly crapped myself. I was downshifting, revving the engin, holding the horn down and I stopped about 10 feet from him. He saw me and then took off in full gallup. I was scared as hell.

I also had a Bald Eagle swoop down while I was in Idaho last year and pick up road kill about 20 feet in front of me with a semi in the opposite lane. I passed the bird and the semi with inches on either side.

Looks like a nice day for a ride:ride.
This type of thing is more the norm than the exception when you leave the big city. Always have you eyes scanning both sides of the road and know they like to travel in groups.
The thing I would be worried about is all those bicyclist on that road. Car drivers tend to use your lane to get by them and it doesn't matter if it is a blind corner.
I understand the camera may be giving a skewed view of where you were in your lane but as others have said it really is a good practice to late apex left handers. I also like to swing out towards the centerline and then early apex right handers. This will help keep away from where others will tend to blow the centerline in a corner and give you the best look thru the corner.

There's not much that scares me anymore than the thought of hitting a deer while riding. I've hit one while driving, and those retarded things can put a hurt on a car. I'm sure it would be devistating to hit one while riding 70 MPH.
