My Car Stereo and Ipod Nano ripped off

Go2Trackdays

No speed limits or cars!
WTF - It's really irritating that I can't have some decent sounds in my 13 yr old Civic to keep me entertained because some scumbag crackhead a-hole is casing our neighborhood vehicles. Or that every single time I step out of my car I have to take all the electronics with me :mad

Way to go, Asshole scumbags of Campbell!

Has this happened to you?

What's the solution?

Happened to my GF here, but they just got an old Sansa.

I'd suggest routing the ipod cable into the glove box, and using a detachable face stereo.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
rusty fishhooks strategically placed within the car when parked outside....

years ago, I came upon my car in the morning with the car door open...noticed blood and missing fish hooks...was obvious the intruder ended up getting the worse of it since nothing was stolen...

That sucks but on the other hand, I have this new stereo and ipod nano I'll give you a great deal on!

Helps to have a crappy car, too, as long as it's not a Civic.

I roll around in my 12 year old truck, full of crap, greasy service manual on the dash...and nobody ever screws with it.

GF has a nice, newer car, and has issues...

At least it's 13 years old, but I think there's too much demand for Civic parts, so every thug is going to at least look your car over closely. And the tweakers are always good for a stereo or two...

Maybe a bunch of needles and what looks like blood all over the place will keep it safe. Perhaps a "living with ur aids" brochure or two.

Perhaps a security camera, the Nano charger, instruction manual, and some inspired advertising might help ID a suspect?

I keep my valuables out of sight, and make it clear there's nothing worth stealing, and I don't seem to have problems.

It works...should you have to do it, no, but in a society that's full of tweakers who need $10 for their next fix, it shouldn't really surprise you to have to do it either.

You can roll with the state our society is in, or you can rail against it, but adapting is much less stressful than trying to beat it.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but Hooli is correct.

Wanna hear something funny? I've lived in EPA all my life and never had a problem. One night I decided to stay at a Hotel in Sunnyvale (had an argument w/ the x).

Well, that night my vehicle was burgled.

Haha....I did that with my rain gutters (old solid wood type) after my house got robbed. Instead of fish hooks, I screwed in some carpet strips (we who have installed or removed carpet know how sharp they are). As more time goes on, the more rusty they get!! :devil:muhahaha

I think you've got to think like a crook.

Remove all electronics from car or hide them. If I were a crook, I'd look in the car before opening it or breaking the window. If there's nothing worth stealing out in the open, I wouldn't bother with that car/risk.

If I DID see something out in the open, including the 12V charger/adapter for an iPod or a GPS, I'd open the window, look around for things to grab. If I were skilled at ripping off stereo decks, I would first look for the detachable face in the glove compartment or under the seat. If I couldn't find it, I would grab sunglasses, ipods, and whatever else is valuable and scoot. If I COULD find the face, I would pull the deck at that point.

With that said, I don't leave loose change out in my car (lived in Berkeley for 4 years), or anything ANYONE (including a homeless person) might find valuable.
