Mushroom identification.

So, I saw these mushrooms growing in a tree that was felled by a lightning strike. Can anyone identify them? What kind of mushrooms are they? Don’t worry. I have enough sense to not eat them unless I’m 100% sure that they’re edible. I’m just curious.

Looks like Chicken of the Woods. Past their eating stage if i read the color right. Better to get em when they're more red/orange.

Edit - they're good eating if its what i think it is. Cut the outer thiner parts and soak them in chicken marinade. ...at your own risk of course!

Thank you! I think you’re right. But, I’m so not going to take a chance. :teeth

looks like chicken of the woods. If picked when young, they are supposed to be good. People love them. Myself, I have yet to eat one that wasn't like chewing on a cork. But they are out right now. That one looks a little old to be eating, but as was mentioned try cutting the tender bits off and cooking them up.
