Muffler issue

I have a slight split in the titanium sleeve of my TRS race muffler which is puffing slightly. Is this really a concern? Would covering it up with a strip of duct tape be an ok solution?

Any auto parts store will have muffler repair kits that will either wrap around the pipe and secure with a hose clamp or be made with some kind of material that you have to mix with water and let dry(like paper mache.) Both are high-heat. Duct tape will melt.
