Moved threads

Spun out freakshow
Every now and then I run across a thread that has "Moved" in front of it, and when I click on it, it takes me to a page that states I don't have permission to view it? :wtf

"brichter, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

What's up with this behavior? How do I view the thread?

I see that too ?? I just posted something in the grab bag and have no clue why it got moved? It was a feeler thread for a vanity.

When you can't see a thread, that's because it's been moved a place on here that you don't have permission to see, and that's typically on purpose. Most of the time that means it's in what we call The Recycle Bin. It's where threads on here go to die.

You're both talking about the same thread. Vio, you posted a "feeler" and according to this, feelers aren't allowed. Sorry about that. Hence, the thread got moved to the Recycle Bin.

It should be for sale or not. Simple.. you can always say I am keeping it.

and creates another "where is it?" I get PMs from people that don't even follow the redirect on those.

Solution is follow the rules. :teeth

Why not move it with no notice of redirect? Solves this problem.

We typically don't have a re-direct in front of threads punted to The 'Bin. I don't see what you guys see in the same way all the time, and in this case I see no evidence of a thread with a re-direct in front of it. Maybe one of you guys can point me to it, or show me a screen shot? I'll do a little digging too.

look in the grab bag classified section, and you should see the link. Maybe open a different browser that does not log you in (or log out) to see the result seen by mere mortals :p.

I've seen a lot of those pages. I saw one when one of my topics was merged with another.

it was all coincidental. usually I click the new posts link and read along. I happen to be browsing the general forum so I could post a follow-up on the glove PSA, and noticed the moved thread. I recall reading several posts about it and could not imagine something blew up and got it canned. Then this was here too.

Just to close this out... the moderator(s) in there typically like to post up a 1-hr re-direct as a courtesy. We get enough of these incorrectly posted type of threads that it's unreasonable for the moderators to contact each person about the situation, so the temporary re-direct is whatchya get. We apologize if it's created inconveniences, but I hope this helps explain the thinking.

Thanks!
