Motorcycle Jeans and Recommendations Requested

Hi All,

I'm looking for some opinions and recommendations around motorcycle reinforced jeans. I need something that offers some level of protection over standard jeans for commuting.

Been doing some research online and the "REV'IT! Lombard" look like a decent option--decent protection with modern styling. At $269 retail, they're quite a bit of coin though. I think $269 would be my upper bound for motorcycle jeans.

Thought about leather riding pants as well, but I do not wish to carry around an extra set of pants to work everyday.

I'm currently commuting in a full face helmet, leather jacket with back protection and armor, leather gloves, and riding boots. As you can see, the only thing missing is pants.

Just wanted to update this thread as I've had to purchase and return multiple pairs of riding pants/jeans to find one with the right fit.

Height: 5' 9.5"
Weight: 185lbs
Belly Button: 35.5"
Waist (where i normally wear my pants): 34.5"
Inseam: 31"


AGV Sport Alloy Jeans, size 34 x 32: The jeans measure 35" around the waist when measured with a tape measurer, so they are tighter around the waist, which is how I like to wear my pants. Jeans will stretch after use regardless. Length fits well; in the riding position the jeans pull upwards. They're more of a Slim-Straight fit. The knee pads shift towards the inside of your knee when riding, so they offer minimal to no protection to the outside of the knee. I've since removed them.

Overall a good bang for your buck pair of riding jeans. Newer models are zippered fly as well.


Scorpion Covert Pro "Jeans", size 32 x 32: These pants measure 33" around the waist when measured with a tape measurer. They do not fit me. The style is loose around the legs; i would say almost baggy. Pants felt robust and solid. Length was correct.

Scorpion Covert Pro "Jeans", size 34 x 32: These pants measure 39" around the waist when measured with a tape measurer. They do not fit me. The size 32s were loose around the legs; this size was extremely baggy. Pants felt robust and solid. Length was correct.

Unfortunately the Scorpion Covert Pros have a delta of 6" between size 32 and 34 (at least the 2 pair I've tried). I had to return both, but the quality was there.


AGV Sport Willow Perforated Leather Pants, size 32": These pants measure 35" around the waist when measured with a tape measurer. This pant fits perfectly around the waist, just how I like them on the tighter yet comfortable side. They have a good amount of stretch with elasticity around the waist if needed. These fit relatively loose around the legs (not race fit). Length was correct. Knee pads are in the correct location.

Rev'it! Rockefeller Jeans, size 34 x 32: These jeans are cosmetically sized, not "true waist" sized. The size 34x32 have an inner waist measurement 37" with a 33" inseam measured with a tape measurer. The legs fit quite baggy on me (I prefer slim fitting jeans). I returned these pair.

Rev'it! Rockefeller Jeans, size 32 x 32: These too are rather large. The size 32x32 have an inner waist measurement of 36.5" with a 33" inseam measured with a tape measurer. The inseam is consistent across both sizes. The legs fit better with this size, though the waist is still too large. I have to wear a belt to keep the pants from sagging as they are on the heavier side. They offer excellent protection and are reported to offer 6 seconds of abrasion resistance.

Thanks for the advice! Covert Pro's are backordered almost everywhere unfortunately.

Do you have any experience with the Dainese Knee V E1 N Guards?

Yeah I don't get the backorder on the Covert Pros, I've been checking for a couple months and it's been the same.

Interesting Dainese knee armor, never tried but from a Revzilla video those are designed to go over your jeans, which defeat the purpose of wearing riding jeans imho. Aesthetically if I wore big knee pads over my pants I might as well get some textile overpants.

very new rider here with not much experience for comparison so take my two cents with decent grain of salt, 2 mo riding and 1 1/2 months with these pants:

i wear them pretty regularly, a couple times a week for weekend rides and when i ride to the office on casual fridays. reasonable fit, not skinny not crazy baggy "comfort fit" is a good description. also feels like if i wanted to wear a base layer underneath (thermals or under armour) that could be accommodated no problem.

pretty true fit, i wear 32 waist and that's what i ordered, maybe 1/2" wider than my regular jeans but doesn't bunch up wearing a belt (maybe could've sized down to 31 but whatevs). i'm 6'3'' and the length/inseam is adequate, rides up obviously when in riding position. exposes a bit of my upper ankle so there is a draft for sure, hasn't been too terrible yet tho. also obviously the knee guards hang below my knees when i'm standing/walking, it's not uncomfortable or horrendously ugly though. (no hip pads)

seems like decent protection with included knee pads and kevlar reinforcements from ass/hips down to shins (no inner liner beneath shin/ankle area). not yet crash tested by me.

button fly and zippered back pockets. stitching seems tight all around.

Really surprised by lack of mention for Draggin' Jeans. Roommate has a pair and they've saved her skin more than once. They're Kevlar-reinforced, with hip and knee armor available (optional). I think they also now sell Kevlar liners that you can wear under/over other street clothing.

Bringing up this old thread because I want to get some new insight. I have always been a leather dude and a firm believer, but I also know gear technology has really gotten good.

Any recommendations for 2019? There is a pair on Amazon made by a Korean company for $180 that is getting really good reviews. Anything under $100 worth looking at?

Also, no baggy stuff, I wear slim and would prefer slim, fitted style.

I scored a pair of Bull-it SR4's from CG on sale for $80. Wearing them now, so yes you can find something good for less $$. Snug fit, although they're not metro-sexual skinny jean type they're small enough at the cuff that I can't wear them over my normal boots. They're a bit older and only rated for 5 seconds of slide at 75mph whereas they new ones are 7 seconds.
