Gerloff joining GRT WorldSBK is great news.
But what I don't get is someone like Beaubier who has already won 4 times the AMA SBK would still stick in the same championship for 2020 ? To win it 5 times ? what's the point ? If Gerloff made it to World SBK, shouldn't Beaubier be able to make it too ?

I think Cameron is the only one who would have a clear answer. It could be a similar situation to Mladin. Being that if there's no top tier bike/team to make the leap to, why leave a good thing? Might as well stay where you're still making money, having fun, and a big fish in a little pond.

Because he makes bank, he gets the factory treatment, he wins races, and he gets to take a short domestic flight back to his girlfriend and is dog and sleep at home in his own bed every week after the race.

You have remember that this is just his job, it's how he makes his living. Why make it harder on himself than it needs to be? It's easy for us to think "who wouldn't want to get paid to travel the world and race motorcycles?!" But that ignores all the logistical challenges and long travel days of actually doing it. All he really gets by racing WSBK is the prestige of competing in an international series. He can't put prestige in the bank. Oh, and also he probably doesn't win another championship.

I'm not saying for sure that's the reason, it's not like I call Cam at home. Just another perspective to keep in mind.

He has done WSBK wild card rounds before, maybe he got a taste of his would-be lifestyle and decided he would rather stay domestic.

KTM announced today that Brad Binder will be promoted to the factory MotoGP team next season filling the spot left open by Zarco's departure and Iker Lecuona will move up to the KTM Tech3 MotoGP team in place of Hafizh Syahrin.

I'm sure Oliviera is happy about that: |

old and slow
It seems like KTM is just putting on a blindfold and throwing Moto2 rider darts at their team/bike dartboard. Does it really make a difference?

Trellis up, boys. Godspeed.

KTM always stated they wanted to develop riders through a pipeline from the Junior classes so they are sticking to that strategy.

Oliveira in an interview on MotoGP.com reveals he's not real happy about the situation but he's good company man.

2wheels good 4wheels bad
I mean, zarco did win the red bull rookies cup, so it could be argued that he was always destined for the ktm pipeline

Haslam has landed two factory WSBK rides in two years? A Suzuki 8-hour resume must carry a lot of weight these days.

Meant to ask these questions a while ago:

The cool-down lap at races ... is it a necessary thing to let the bike really cool down or is it because riders have no other choice to get back to the pit but going around for one more lap ?

actually, they’re better -
Barni has run a 1-bike Ducati team ever since their EBR team disbanded,
with decent results (often ahead of Honda)

Oh, yeah, I knew that. :teeth I think I missed a smiley face. :wtf

Hell, he was getting better and more consistent results with the tiny little MV squad at a TON of races.

Glad he'll stick it out for at least 2020.

It offers an opportunity to greet the fans and celebrate on one wheel! :party
It is true that they have passed the finish line and the pit entrance.
It offers them a chance to cool down..the adrenaline wain and enjoy the time you just put into a full assault.... it was one of my favorite things to do.

Thank you.

Any news of whether Sandro Cortese would get a bike for 2020 ?
