I heard Mugello might be yet another "Yamaha" track where Pedrosa and Marquez fight for the win. :laughing

Marquez FTW
Pretty much my favorite track on the schedule. Very fast circuit, no real stop-and-go corners like others. Everything really flows nicely.

Another good poll question. I'm inclined to say podium, but not sure. 2 years ago if he'd still been on the Yamaha, I think it would have been a certainty, with a win likely. But after the two years on the Ducati, I really don't know if he'll ever been the racer he was again. Sure, he'll still get a podium here and there; afterall, he's Valentino Fucking Rossi. But the wins are going to be fewer and farther between, especially with the competition he's now facing:
  • Lorenzo has that swagger and confidence that he didn't have a few years back, even in the year he first won the 'ship.
  • Pedrosa has really stepped up his game this year; I really thought last year was his last shot at a 'ship, but he's trying hard to prove me wrong.
  • Marquez... well, what can you say about this kid that hasn't already been said? Most people thought he would have crashed in a race by now... hell, even I did, and I'm unabashedly rooting for the kid. But he's shown poise and skill beyond his years and experience. He truly has been a replacement for Stoner (who?), as much as I was sad to see him leave.
  • Crutchlow is even showing more consistency than many expected, and so far he and Rossi have alternated each race which of them finishes ahead of the other.
On the one hand, I have trouble betting against the guy, but at the same time I just don't think he's the almost sure thing he once was. I don't know if it's his age, the injuries over the years, the two wasted seasons on the Duc, or a combination of all three. But he's just not the same Doctor that he once was.

So in the end, I think I'll go with "top 5" with an option for a podium spot. He might, but I'm just not sure.

Valentino Rossi the legend was finished four years ago, he had an incredible run from 2001-2009. You can't ask anything else from him, nobody else was able to stay at the top of their game for that long. Nobody! Nine seasons of ass-kicking at the highest level, with seven world titles in those nine seasons.

Anything else from him is just plain icing, we are lucky he's still in the game at this point, and reasonably competitive (fifth in the world right now). The entire sport is lucky, even the non-Rossi fanbois (like me) must bow down. He has carried, promoted, and grown the sport for over a decade.

We owe him.

Yep. Not a fan but he has a done a ton for the sport which I appreciate. He's also lost that little bit and the younger guys have stepped it up a level.

Hope fully there will be some mixing and maybe we will see something crazy we shouldn't.

I don't really feel he Rossi lost anything. He still has the drive to compete and have fun. the key is to race and enjoy. I mean at this point, Yamaha is somewhat struggling, which is also affecting Jorge

DONE! :laughing 5 Hobo dollars it is. I got Ben, hopefully a somewhat healthy Ben. This rain is going to make things interesting for sure...

Same here. This is the track of tracks! You gotta love the way this thing flows. ANd with this rain, Duc may well be in the mix.

I just want to put out there that saying "Valentino will get a Top 5" is just as bad as saying finishing dead last.

If he doesn't beat any of the factory Yamaha's or Honda's, you can bet that his bosses as well as himself will consider that last place; Because really, it is last place. There is absolutely no reason for him NOT to be in 4th place at the very worst, and if he's not washed up he should be able to BEAT people on factory Honda's or Yamaha's.

Ya'll know my bet -- the same as it was 2.5 years ago after he got injured, even before he went to Ducati. He's done. He got hurt, he slowed down, then he went to Ducati and slowed down even further. He'll win a race, he'll podium here or there, but he will never be "Valentino Rossi" again. Never.

Well except you lost that bet when he won that same year, in the midst of a five podiums on the bounce run lol

i rly wonder if Jorge is fully mind-fucked by the Hondas yet. if so, Rossi is going to take advantage.

Rossi over Jorge this race!

One of the latest MM articles allude to Jorge & crew possibly mind-fucked alright, but not by the Hondas.

Making things more complicated is Yamaha's engine situation. Reports are emerging from the Yamaha camp of a problem with one of Jorge Lorenzo's engines, which has forced a rethink of their strategy. Lorenzo has not used his number 1 engine since Jerez, and reliable reports put this down to a strange lack of power. Since then, the other Yamaha engines have all been throttled back a fraction, to ensure that they do not develop problems, much to the frustration of the riders.

They should say fuck it for Rossi and give him a pumped up engine for this race lol he can start from pit lane later, he'd used to it anyway lol
