Great to see Rossi riding. Weather is supposed to improve the rest of the weekend.

Joe Roberts finished 11th in FP2 which was a damp session that turned wet near the end. He turned his fast time when it was pretty wet. This is supposed to be his last Moto2 World Championship race with AGR. The deal was for a of stretch races in Europe before the flyaways. He still races for the AGR CEV Moto2 team. Rumors have Roberts connected to a Moto2 World Championship ride for another team next season.

MotoGP: Rossi feeling comfortable as he returns to action

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/sport...-feeling-comfortable-as-he-returns-to-action/

Valentino Rossi says he’s feeling comfortable on his return to MotoGP action today at Motorland Aragon, only 22 days since undergoing surgery to have a broken right peg pinned after an enduro training crash only a few weeks ago.

The Italian finished the wet opening day of action at the Spanish circuit 20th overall but happy with his pace in wet conditions, despite admitting afterwards that he was always mindful of his injuries in slippery conditions.

But despite that, he also says that he’s feeling surprisingly good on the bike as the weekend’s action goes into a dry second day tomorrow.

...

“I’m quite happy, because I feel comfortable on the bike. I was good already from this morning and also because the leg, after two practice sessions, is in a good condition, I don’t feel a lot of pain. For sure on the wet it’s a bit easier, because it’s less demanding to ride the bike, but I hope we will have better weather conditions tomorrow and on Sunday, in order to try to understand my level on the dry and also so we can work on the setting and the tyres.”

...

“It was very complicated. We were trying a new set-up for the wet, but unfortunately we didn’t find a way to improve. We’re having so much spin, the bike is not riding well, so we have many problems to set a good lap time. Luckily, it will be dry and we know we will have a strong package for those conditions. We are going to try to improve on the wet. We are trying and trying, but sometimes it gets difficult. We didn’t improve compared to Misano, we took some steps back whilst trying to improve, but we’re going to keep trying to do our best.”

they should at least give him some MotoGP™ swag

If Rossi doesn't step up the pace in the dry and is not able to pull off a top 5 finish, I'll be bummed for MVDM more than Rossi. Was looking forward to seeing him ride the M1. It might have been his best chance to get the tech 3 spot when Zarco takes over the M1 when Rossi retires.

Surprised to see Zarco the only Yamaha even close to the top times.

What up with Maverick? I get Rossi being careful for sure.

2018 chassis is booty in the rain, and Mav went back to it.

Dude is not living up to his potential. Interesting to see if he gets it together or fades away into GP history as someone who shoulda/woulda/coulda.

Mav struggled in wet conditions last year and earlier this season. He was 4th at Misano and 4th at Sachsenring so I thought he was getting more comfortable this season.

I believe it was the latest issue of RRW that discussed Dovi's success this season had to do with the narrow range operating temp the Michelins' have. He is able to stay in that temperature range through data annalists engineering magic. I suspect Zarco was the only one getting his tires in the correct operating temp range. :wow
