Hey all,

Anyone know if the motorcycle parking meters next to the Transamerica pyramid are all day? If they aren't, are there any nearby areas that have all day parking?

I've left a bike there for 8+ hours at a time with no issues, both the Clay and Washington Street racks. They do fill up early; I'm not sure if there is a street cleaning or curfew but there will be signs posted.

Make sure to either use the app to pay for parking or take a picture of the main meter screen once money is put in to show the time and remaining time.

More than once I received a parking ticket while still having plenty of time on my spot, and lost when I tried to contest it.

I didn't think about using an app to use as proof of payment. It looks like SF uses the PayByPhone app? Registering on it now. Thanks for the heads up.

It's definitely ok all day on Clay, I used to work next door and moto commute. Try not to park under the trees, lots of bird shit. IIRC Washington is cheaper than Clay St. Avoid the end spots, they get backed into by cars. The moto parking at Sansome ends around 3pm and they DO tow.

:laughing.... yep victim of a tow off Sansome @ Clay when my lunch meeting went far longer than anticipated. :(

OP, dont leave your helmet locked on your bike. Bums have cut off my strap and walked away with one of my helmets. Other than that, I've never had any issues over many years when I used to park my moto in the financial district. Though I wouldnt advise leaving a bike down there late or over night.

Edit: and for your reference, an official SF interactive map showing all of the moto parking in SF. Zoom in to see parking in whichever area you are travelling too. :thumbup

I def didn't get the vibe that i'd be comfortable locking my helmet to the bike so I took it with me. That map looks hella useful. Gonna bookmark it as a reference!

I am so glad that you mentioned this. I actually did park at Sansome this morning and was a little confused on why I couldn't add money to the meter to go past 3. Sort of assumed that I could just come back and add money via the app later. Saw this post while chillin at the nearby Peet's and immediately ran out to move the bike to Washington St before it filled up :laughing

I don't remember the rate and restrictions right at Transamerica, but if you're in a jam, Drumm street (a couple of blocks away) is all day, there is always space and it's $0.40/hour. For $7/day, you can park in Golden Gateway Garage on Clay Street (4am-10p, M-F).

I’ve been parking on the Washington St. side of the Pyramid every workday for 4 years (pro tip: the ones on Washington cost half as much as the ones on Clay). On nice days they “sell out” by 9:15am or so. Like most other moto spaces in SF, the time limit is 10 hours.

I’ve never had an issue, except for occasional bird shit on my bike, and debris from Pyramid gardeners’ leaf-blowers, but that’s only on Mondays.

oh, and speaking of bird shit, some of the payment stations are covered in it - so use the app or bring Purell. :barf
