"SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Police Thursday morning are continuing to investigate why a motorcycle collided into several people Wednesday night on Market Street in San Francisco.
Officers responded at 9:10 p.m. to the intersection of Market and Third streets on a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and several pedestrians.
Police said the initial investigation revealed the motorcyclist struck one pedestrian on the sidewalk and another in the crosswalk area.
All three people involved in the collision were transported to the hospital.
One of the pedestrians suffered injuries that were life threatening and was in surgery early Thursday morning, and the other pedestrian suffered lacerations to the head but is expected to survive, police said.
The condition of the motorcyclist wasn’t immediately available.
Investigators with the San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigations Unit will be handling the case to determine the cause of the collision, police said.

I remember once a guy on a hypermotard going through the crosswalk at that same intersection while I was crossing the street on foot... no regard for pedestrians. I wonder if its the same guy

A$$hole behavior catches up with this rider... I've seen way too many dooshes in SF pretending to be supermoto heros. Public perception of motorcyclists is getting worse - not good. Best wishes for the injured...

Not enough information here...I know that intersection all to well and how both traffic and pedestrians have the tendency not to pay attention to lights and each other at all hours. Hope the best for the injured.

Any number of things could have happened:

Moto washed out and slid into the crosswalk.
Moto was rear ended or broadsided and went flying.
Peds darted out into traffic.
Moto rider was being an asshat.

Curious to see what comes out.

Should have had ABS

They did. I guess ABS is not the silver bullet, eh?:teeth

Hey now, does not apply to this crash. The bike slide into the person on the sidewalk which means we at least know he/she was out of control when they struck the pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Sidewalk is optional.

Agreed. Too many people making assumptions. So far the details released it looks like an unfortunately accident but nothing stacks up to the rider being a maniac.

Taze away, Yana...
Market and 3rd has a web of tracks in the roadway. It's quite possible he was changing lanes across them when he lost it. I have crashed on those tracks once, and almost went down two other times. The first time I was going too fast, and the other two they were wet. Was the fog out last night?

That does not mean the guy wasn't riding like an ass when it happened, but I can see how the bike ended up where it did. I hope everyone recovers.

Likewise

Hope those hurt heal up.

Truth will come out in the media.... as long as it is negative to us riders.
If it was a pedestrians fault we may never hear.

Because the media was there and saw the hole thing?
Why would the media know more than us?
Why would the media want to misinform us based on witness statements which could be biased or just plain wrong?
