Anybody know how Ricky did with his RS50/250 hybrid at the AFM Buttonwillow race? How did the BATS guys do in the 125 class?

For reference on what turns are what here's the track map, it's the number 13 configuration:

The Aprilia was having problems in the days before the races. Two blown base gaskets in a row just 1 day before we left for the track. Rick tried a last minute idea to keep the bike running and It looked like it was going to pay off.

Rick ran his first practices on Saturday and dropped his times from 2:23 at the first run of the day to 2:06 by the end of the day (and that's in the slowest group with riders all over the track running 2:15's to 2:30's or maybe higher.)

Sunday morning came around and Rick's first race was Formula IV, an unlimited mod class consisting of SV650's FZR400's and a few other interesting hybrids. Rick was positioned #52 on row 12 of about a 60 bike grid. The flag dropped and Rick got one hell of a shitty start. He was second bike to last entering turn 1 and he immediately proceded to pass about 6-7 bikes before the exit of turn 1. He diced in and out of bikes for the first 2 laps working his way up to 25th place where he battled with an SV650 for 2 more laps. In the exit of cotton corners on lap 4 he shot around the outside to pass the SV and an FZR while all three where fighting for 23rd position.

After the pass, he began to put a gap between him and the other bikes. While gaining on the 22nd place bike, Rick's bike began to lose power while crossing start/finsh. Just as Rick apexed turn 2 the base gasket blew, causing an intake leak which revved the engine and pitched him sideways. He was bucked off the seat and pegs but somehow managed to pull off the manuever and stay in the race. As he struggled to keep the bike running at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, the SV and FZR passed him and began to pull away. Exiting the Riverside turn, the engine popped and lost all power. Rick coasted all the way to the other end of the Lost Hills turn where the bike rolled to a stop less than 1 mile from the finish. The pic explains it all.

I almost forgot. Rick's fastest lap of the weekend was on lap 3 or 4 of the race with a 2:03.6 and he was still passing traffic while making that lap.
