Modem for Comcast

UDRider

FLCL?
I am thinking of getting Comcast for cable at my place. I don't want to pay to rent their shitty equipment. What's a good modem that would work?

Thanks

Do not get an aio

Get a separate router and modem

I’m preferential to tp link

I have that router and like it

If att fiber were available I would get it. They say some time in the near future since its available here in town, just not my neighborhood yet. Not gonna hold my breath lol.

I have comcast and I've been using an Arris sb6183 and haven't had a single issue with it. The model you want to get will be dependent on what speed you plan to have. The modem we have is capable of approx double the speed we're paying for and we consistently average 20% faster speeds than we pay for.

We also have a linksys wifi router, the last model not the most recent one and again, works great with no issues. I think the model is something like ac1900.

I have a netgear cm600 on an Asus RT-AC68U. Full bars upstairs and downstairs in a small house, even get signal out in the parking lot lol. Pulling about 175mb down on a 150 profile, upspeed is about 8-12mbps. Through a decent vpn like ipvanish I can still get almost 150mb and a ping in the high teen/low 20s. Nord vpn is a bit worse.

Modem only cost about $100 I think? I can't remember, but it was a decent price on Amazon.

Oh and as far as att uverse fiber, good luck...if you're not in a pre-built pre-fab residential complex, or had att trucks in your area and at your home doing construction for the past few years, it'll be a long while before you get it. I worked for uverse for about 3 years and the phone sales reps will tell you "fiber to the house, fiber to the house..." they are straight up lying to you. It's fiber to a local terminal, then copper to your house. Max speeds there were about 75 last I checked. Nowhere near Gigabit yet. I will say though, I've had Comcast for about a year now and it's been really stable on shitty old ass coax through this ancient house. I would still get Gigabit if it were available, though. Depends on the speeds through a VPN.

I've used this for several years with Connncast (obligatory fuck them) with no issues. Modem/router combined. Only thing that sucks is you can't add a VPN directly to the router.

How fancy do you want to get? I have a $25 TP Link from Newegg that I flashed with DD-WRT and it works awesome. Radio signal is a little weak but generally no problems inside the house. The firmware reflash gives you more options that you could ever want to use.

I forgot to mention that with the arris modem & linksys router we're using we regularly have 5-10 wireless devices and 10+ wired devices running with no lag. We have 4 port and 16 port switches as part of the wired network. In my house there are phones, laptops, destop pcs, streaming devices, TVs, sat tv, ect. Ect. And we dont have any issues
