Has anyone heard of a Michelin High-Sport? We picked one up yesterday that is brand spankin new(still has the little rubber string thinkies on it) but I've never seen one before. Just curious if it's more race or daily riding compound.

The Hi-Sports used to be Michelin's top sporting tire before the Pilots came out. They were okay back then but I wouldn't buy them unless you got them for a really good deal. There is so much better modern rubber out there today.

Let's see...In my opinion the following are better than the Michelin Hi-SPorts:

Michelin Pilot Sports
Bridgestong BT-010
Pirelli Dragon Evos
Metzeler Rennsports
Dunlop D207RRs
Dunlop D207GPs
Dunlop D208GPs

....but "better" will really depend on your criteria. If you want longer lasting tires than your BT-010...try to 020s but you will more than likely get performance degredation by going for higher mileage tires.

I had a set of D207ZRs and burned them off in 1300 miles but it really depends on what you're looking for. I want good grip and I don't care much about mileage.

In fact, I have a set of D208GPs that I'm planning on taking off my R6 for a new set of Rennsports. The 208GPs were 'okay' and even have about 1/2 tread or more on them...and only about 500-700 miles on them but I don't care for them much. But I am sure they were better than the older Michelin Hi-Sports.
