I have friends back home working as hard as they can to get animals out of there and to no-kill shelters and foster homes. Memphis is corrupt as hell, it isn't just animal services.

City money going to keep mistresses on payroll and to pay off baby mamas to keep quiet, etc. It's got some awesome things going for it (bbq, blues, etc) but it'll never manage to reach it's potential because of all the corruption and bs.

The only thing that saved me from this is that Dad had a "no guts, nuts, or brains 'n shit in my house" rule. Used to piss my grandma off something fierce when she'd visit.

Memphis is such a strange place... so much fail, and yet so many people who just refuse to give up on her. There are some incredible places to visit in Memphis :thumbup

I lived there back in '78, 79, 80...... was one of the few places I've ever been where I couldn't get comfortable within a year. I finally started seeing the "good" side into my third year but by then I wanted OUT.
