A few pics from the Z2 Track Day and car combo last Thursday at Thunderhill.

some nice cars there. that 41 is an elva. they made less than a thousand total cars and eventualy became mclaren. looks like a courier mk1. with some body mods. they did lots of interesting things for the time. first to put a fiberglass body on a tube frame and all sorts of other little things.

I should add that this car was turning 1:39 lap times!:wow
He never even brakes for turn 1. Just lets off the gas and downshifts. It's crazy to watch.

Wow... there are some impressive machines there. How do the car's tires hold up out there? Do they get beat up like ours do?

wow! i wasn't expecting to see race cars like that! that would have been interesting to see on the track with a miata or like a mazda3 lol.

Without knowing much about the sport, I'd guess that that was a Mazda Cup car, not a Formula 1 race car. Much less expensive to own, but still ridiculously fast and hugely awesome.

Yep, it is a Star Mazda car. He finished second in both SCCA regional races at Laguna Seca a couple weeks ago. The car is very fast.

There was an episode of Top Gear where Richard Hammond attempts to drive a formula 1 car. After seeing it, I didn't feel so bad that I'd never in my life have the opportunity to drive one of those machines. I would however love the chance to drive a car like #64, mentioned above.

Getting it very wrong in the Corkscrew yesterday. In his defense someone had drug a ton of dirt onto the track at the entry to the turn. He wasn't the only one to spin.

+1 I remember them telling him he was shifting to slow and that 1/32 of second was not acceptable for him to shift.:laughing His look was :wtf:|
