Lowering links?

I'm shopping for lowering links for my F4i. I'm thinking about lowering the front and the back, but I see many different types. Which is the best and do I just purchase two of the same for front and back?

i've given it a lot of thought and shaving is my 2nd choice.. i've heard so many mixed reviews of how lowering links does or does not interfere with the suspension

but i definitely like the idea of you shaving it alan ;)

now only if i was in Cali :cry

I think they all work about the same. Yeh - get two for the front and two for the back. Be sure to post pictures when you get them mounted....

:rolleyes

justanotherider, i meant two of the same as in one for the front and one for the rear... but if it boosts your self-esteem, go ahead and pat yourself on the back for the smart comment :applause

actually he was clowning you because you don't use lowering links for the front, you drop the forks in the triples,as in alot more of the fork tube sticking out of the top triple, basically some people are dicks and like to give people a hard time because its easier than helping them

I lowered my DRZ with www.KoubaLink.com - but then again, I had miles of travel to play with... :laughing

(& bar risers for the front)

~ edit - they only offer them for dirtbikes and SuperMotos. :(

Fair shot - I deserved it.

You only need a single lowering link for your rear shock, then as VTR pointed out, you just raise the fork tubes in the triple clamps to lower the front end.

If you can get around on the bike as it is, you'll get a better ride. Lowering the unit will reduce ground clearance, and make the bike turn in more quckly. How much it will affect your steering is anyone's guess - it depends on how much you lower it.

Also, if you do lower the bike, be certain to check how it sits on the side stand, as it will stand up straighter, and might be in danger of tipping over with very little provocation.

If that turns out to be that case, often you can solve the problem by grinding a little bit off of the stop on the top of the side stand, so as to allow the stand to swing a bit further forward, thus in effect shortening the distance it props the bike up off the ground. It's a bit of a hit and miss procedure, so go slowly, and just take off a little metal, then test it. It might take a few tries to get to the right length; but you won't want to take off too much and make the stand effectively too short. I had to trim the stock stand on an RC51 that way, as it stood too straight to be safe.

If you do lower it, take it very easy, especially at parking lot speeds until you get accustomed to the difference in turn-in reaction.

you guys are stupid as hell. you cant shave the seat on the f4i because its so damn wide anyways. you can remove the seat and try to seat and you wont get any more clearance because thats how the body is.

i wanted to lower my bike but realize i shouldnt because im already scrapin my shoes at the mountains. so im gonna get a gsxr instead, much more narrow and i can almost flat it
