Need to move my dead 3800# car from 1 side of the yard to the other. Its a one time thing and I would rather not pay $100 for my own set that will just sit and rust for the next 3-4 years. Hoping some Barfer close to SJ might have a set sitting around I can borrow or rent from ? Hopefully it would be the 1500# set like this ( http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece-1500-lb-capacity-vehicle-dollies-67338.html ) so there's a bit more safety margin.

Thanks!

Yeah-just get all the debris out of your path and it should work. If you have no idea what I'm talking about I can talk you through it. I've moved cars around like that for years-just don't push it off the jack.

Hmm .. I was picturing your idea as lifting the front of the car and steering with the jack then remembered its AWD .. not sure if that will work .. LOL

Jack up the car (either end), get the wheels jusssst off the ground. Have the Jack facing the direction you want the car to go in. Get on the far side of the car and push-whatever end that's in the air will move in the direction you want it to. Then do the other end so you don't just go in a circle. Repeat and walk it over. It works the same as wheel dollies-you're just changing where you're supporting the car from.

Thanks for the tease ? :laughing

I would invest in something like those if I thought they would do something other than sit in my backyard and rust for the next 3 yrs before I need them again. :nchantr

Do what I do with them. Someone parks where they're not supposed to? Move their car across the street or a block away and don't say a word. It'll screw with their mind like nothing else.

Thanks BaRf for the laugh. :laughing

Tried to move it this morning but couldn't get it to budge. So much for trying to get it to the epoxy sealed area before wrenching. Threw down some cardboard and was able to extract what I needed. Still in great condition for sitting in the backyard for 10+ years!

Actually moving it will have to wait until I can recruit some more muscle to push the dang thing. :thumbup

That happened to me one time. Guy parked his car in front of a truck I needed to move into the shop. So I picked his car up with a forklift and moved it to the parking lot. Nobody ever said a word, and he didn't do it again.
