Where and how to get @ 75 large rocks? I do not want to take rocks from the side of the road and I heard that the river has great ones but I believe it is illegal to take them.

Any suggestions?
Anyone have extra?

Call your local BLM

Lots of places to rockhound in California.

Different locations have different laws. A lot are 25#s a day 250#s a year with an option to donate for more weight.

Myself and a buddy from work one time stumbled upon a place selling individual rocks. I'd never heard of such a thing, paying for rocks.
I started messing with a dude there with me guessing the price of each rock. That was over a decade ago so I don't remember what the prices were. The rocks looked to be in the range off 100-1000 pounds.

There was this place near Folsom blvd and Jackson hwy that sells big rock. (In Sacramento) My dad bought a few HUGE obsidian rocks there for his front yard.

That was probably the place I saw, I used to work in Folsom.

If you’re in an area with a lot of new residential construction, call the GCs number and ask if they’re throwing any away.

They’re always trying to give stuff away since they have to pay to dump it.

You would think it would be like... "That 500lb rock? $10. Oh you want it delivered? $150..."

Not as fast as I look.

You don't have a gravel yard, or landscaping supplier near you? I have bought boulders and rocks for every house that I have owned. I even bought a boulder for the patio of a condo. I will price my locals, if you decide to buy. They are fair priced, and will give you an idea of what to expect. Rocks are heavy, yo. Five tons of rock is a little pile. So be prepared to be rocked by the weight. :)

If you could remember the name of this place it would be much appreciated. Is it on Jackson or on Fo:thumbuplsom?

Some folks pay alot for little tiny shiny ones because of peer pressure and an advertising campaign. Other folks are making out like bandits.

what is this peer pressure you speak of?

Very different than living a life driven by pure individuality I think.

I was on a Family Construction Crew as well.
Dad had 5 boys to keep busy. We found a farmer that let us have all the rocks we wanted. 65 Mercury Monterey, white with fake wood and a green wooden utility trailer.
We broke some rocks with a stone mall.
One time we spent 90 minutes splitting a rock and the result was 2 stones that were still too heavy to move. :laughing

Its Dethklok!
Remind me of when I got my 250 gallon fish tank. I drove around to apartment buildings and strip malls looking for fresh rock gardens to pilfer from.
