Looking for free metal recyclers

Anyone know a truly free metal recycling service / guy that will pick up 1/2 a car + an engine block + some misc metals in SJ ? Called some places on yelp and even the ones with 'free' in their name isn't really free. Want to clear out the yard and not worth my effort to rent a trailer to haul this stuff to the metal salvage yard. Previously I've seen some guys driving around in old trucks filled with scrap metal that I could just flag down to take my things but haven't seen any for the past few months.

Scrap steel is at $8 a ton. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Ouch .. didn't know it was that low. How are those guys driving around surviving ? Maybe that's why I'm not seeing them drive around much anymore.

Cut it up and fill your recycling bin for a few weeks. Ask your neighbors if they have room in their bins as well.

Cut it into pieces small enough to be transported by bicycle. Tweekers will find it and relieve you of it.

You really don't, that's why most guys charge these days. $100 minim last I checked. I just went through this with a demo job. Took 7 truckloads to the recycling, and made $29.

ETA: the only reason I even went to the trouble was because it would have cost $500 to put it in a dumpster.
