Looking for an independent motorcycle mechanic

BARF hive mind:

Thinking about installing a rally kit and steering damper (HDB Rallye Lite Frame mounted) on my 2017 KTM 690 enduro R.

It involves removing forks, top triple clamp, drilling the steering head stem and electrical wiring. Having never done any of this, I'm thinking of having the kit installed by a pro.

Any recommendations on an independent shop or mechanic that would hopefully charge less than a dealership, but perhaps more importantly will take the extra steps and care to ensure proper reliable installation? I'm looking for someone who lives by their reputation, takes pride in their work and is willing to explain to me their process so I can trouble shoot out on the trail if need be.

I'm sure the right person is out there and perhaps it's even John Doe master mechanic at Scuderia or whatever, but want to tap the experience of those that have been here before...

Thank you!

I go to Lawrence Giardina at LG Moto in El Cerrito. He seems to have every kind of bike, including some very odd ones, and I trust the guy completely. A square shooter. He is booked up this time a year, but you could get in line.

Patrick Ho at Performance Concepts should be able to help you out. He mostly does performance work on engines, but has extensive experience setting up bikes for racing etc.

PM Elskipador. He's up in SF and is a phenomenal mechanic.

And the good news is the MotoAmerica season just wrapped up so he's a little more available than usual. He was Hayden Gillim's mechanic this year and took a few 1sts
