Letting it Go

I just got my supposivly last edition of motorcyclist magazine and I'm not renewing. I also let my Cycle World subscription laps. I enjoyed many years of reading these magazines but no more. I find most all information about motorcycling online now and hardly even look at the magazines now. I understand that City bike is now extinct. I guess it was inevitable. How about you guys? Do you still read much printed media on motorcycling or is it all online now for you too?

The only time I ever pick up a print magazine these days is reading the Horizons or whatever the hell that one is in the seatback pocket on the airplane.

The business model has changed. Just as there are no stores around anymore where you can rent a movie.

I actually prefer the tactile feel of reading a magazine or newspaper

Cycle World changed what I had subscribed to so I canceled

I read City Bike, cover to cover for a long time. So when it fails to come this month, I will miss it.

The other periodicals have been deteriorating for years, they're like so many other magazines, full of Info-Mercials and empty pages of drivel.

Writers aren't appreciated, financially, by anyone in the publishing business anymore. So they just fade away, writing death poetry and drinking themselves in to a stupor.

rider or Bike magazine publications from across the pond are very very good. They are relevant and do stunning reviews. They often showcase products I don't even see here in the US. I just wish they were a little cheaper in print form.

Cycleworld changed to a better format, and its only like $2 a year so I went for it. There are beautiful photos in there and its a great product. I'm going to support it.

I subscribe to these 2 mags digittally.

You can pick one or the other, maybe both, at the magazine shop on Park St in Alameda.

Didn't know about city bike going online only, that's a bummer. Probably a lot less of a headache for Surj and team to not have to deal with delivery and printing. Hopefully this translates in to more resources for them and will make city bike even better.

I still read the printed Cycle World because there are always multiple articles by Kevin Cameron. After all these years he still has interesting things to say about the technical aspects of motorcycles.

I will continue to do my part to support this dying medium, Rider, BMW OTL, and Bike. yes, the glossy ones are $$$, but worth it......

CITYBIKE IS NOT EXTINCT
It is an online only magazine now.

Thanks August. And no thanks to the piece of shit major site that ran the false headline "RIP CityBike," now taken down, that presumably "informed" VicTim's understanding of the status of CityBike. That's all I'll say here, because the author of the article is a member here, and you know, TOS.

To be super clear, yeah, paper going away is a bummer, but for us, nothing changes. Same voice, just not on paper any more.

Anyone who wants to stay on top of what we're up to should sign up for the CityBike Dispatch newsletter, like our Facebook page, or stop by CityBike.com now and again.

Thanks for the information and all that you do Surge. I added Citybike.com to my bookmarks the other day. This actually will allow me to read Citybike with much more regularity. I really enjoy the articles and content on Citybike. And I'm sorry for any misinformation.

Not your fault, amigo. :cool I was growling about the site that spread this nonsense, not you.

Thanks for reading, Tim. :thumbup

When searching that, I was brought right to an uncorrected version of it. Shame some folks are so bitter.

I get the AMA magazine, but I never read it (I browse, but the articles aren't that interesting to me). I get it as a member and haven't opted out yet). I use the pictures in collages, though...
