Legality of smoked screens in France and Spain

Hey Everybody, my wife and I are leaving tomorrow for our honeymoon to France and Spain, where we have a 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 booked for 10 days!!!

I have been having trouble figuring out if I can use my smoked screen on my Arai in those countries.

For some reason my Google skills have failed thus far so I wanted to ask barf.

Pics of the trip will definitely posted when the time comes!

Thanks!

take both, if you get hassled, tell them you were just travelling through and have a clear visor to use if it is necessary. I couldn't understand them giving you a citation for that... pretty pitiful if they do. Unless of course, you somehow manage to get into a crash because of a tinted visor :rofl

Very cool! Enjoy the adventure and stay safe!

I've been recently to both countries and did not notice any restrictions on visors. I also just did a short search on the terms pare-soleil fume (fr) and visera ahumada (sp) and also did not see anything to indicate that there is an official proscription in either country on the use of smoked visors. I'm pretty certain you will be fine.

Like most things it's not the letter of the law but more of how it is enforced. I'd take what I was comfortable with. I always ride with a dark visor. If I got stopped I'd just say sorry, I'm a stupid American I didn't know better. If the cops give you a hassle just tell them last time my family was there everyone was speaking German. Your welcome!

P.S. Was that funny? Or too soon?

No problem. Certainly NOT during the day. At night, as far as i know there is no legislation regarding tint. I use mild tint for road and track. A few times caught up at night with the dark visor but since the tint is not much, it was ok - dont go fast at night anyways.

Thanx, Russ. Never too soon.

I hear they will ticket you on the toll roads based on when you enter and leave if the time is short enough to suggest speeding.
